It's been a while since I did a month long challenge. Lately I've been finding all kinds of rusty things that have grabbed my attention. So I decided to do a month of rust shots and thought I'd open it up for all other rust lovers who might like to join me. There are no hard and fast rules on this one- take new shots; use older shots you didn't get to post the first time around- it's your choice. Do the month, do a week, do a couple days- whatever suits your fancy.
Tag your photos 31daysofrust so folks can view them by the tag.
And feel free to add your shots to this discussion as well. To do that click the three dots underneath your picture and copy and paste the imbed code in the comment box.
Here's a little inspiration to get you started:
The challenge starts on July 1 and runs to the 31st. There are no prizes or pictures to vote for- just the fun of seeing what others find and shoot and the feeling of accomplishment when you look at your calendar view at the end of the month and see all that glorious rust!!
@olivetreeann Oh how wonderful Ann - I love having these themes to motivate me to take different things. I will certainly post some rusty photos! Looking froward to what others post!
@olivetreeann Thank you Ann! I'm having fun with the theme and getting help from the strangers at the yard sale didn't hurt, LOL! He arranged the knife in the frame!
Thank you Marnie, Dina and Debs for your rusty contributions to our thread! I am sorry I've been awol for a few days. I'm catching up little by little and will post my rusty pictures soon!
@golftragic I wrote a better comment on your actual post, but just thought I'd mention here that this is a fun shot when you look at the condition of the sign, the arrow and the words! Looks like we all missed the departure date by a century or so since it's so rusty!
Here is a submission from a trip I took to Athens, Georgia. Why am I so fascinated by rust? Obviously, I'm not alone so I feel much better!! :) Just gorgeous pics enhanced with the richness of rust!
If you are around my age, you remember the good old station wagon! No seatbelts back then . . . your parents just threw in a bunch of pillows and a comfy blanket, and you camped out in the back, whether you were on a road trip or watching a drive-in movie. Sure do miss those days!
Anyone else having trouble watching TV? I'm spotting rusty things in England I want to photograph while watching Dr. Who! I think rusty craziness has set in.
@bellasmom LOL Dina! I pulled up next to a truck at a stop light today which was carrying these big pipes- with rust all over them and in a moment of absurdity wondered if I should ask the guy to pull over so I could take a shot!
@bellasmom Great shot! I have a little bell outside my back door that I took a shot of yesterday but decided to post the chain instead. Great (or should I say rusty) minds think alike!
@golftragic It's an old church. Cute little old building right next to some railroad tracks. Maybe they closed because they couldn't hear the sermons for the trains!
@golftragic Thanks so much for your comments, it's a light pole. Been driving past it the whole 20 years we've lived here and never noticed the base! 365 really has me alert and searching my surroundings!!
@twistergirl my apologies Doris for seeing your comment so late! It's been a busy summer so far. Thanks also for posting some rusty shots here. You have a great eye for composition!
@golftragic Thank you Marnie for faithfully posting so many gorgeous rust shots while I've been busy with summer comings and goings. This one is gorgeous but they've all been fantastic! I enjoy seeing what else you've discovered in the way of rust- it's always interesting and different.
@dibzgreasley Thanks for posting on the thread Debs. You really found some great stuff- and I particularly like your favorite one as well. Have fun searching for more rust at the station!
Rather than overload the thread with all the days of rust I've missed posting here, I'll just upload a few. You can always check out my 365 Project for the rest!
@golftragic Marnie your rust shots have been great this month! I'm sorry I've fallen behind in viewing them. Hopefully I'll be catching up soon but for now, I'll just say they look great on the discussion thread!
@bellasmom Thanks for all your faithful posts here Dina! I've enjoyed the variety of your rust shots and hope to catch up on giving them a closer look soon!
@olivetreeann Many thanks for organising and running such an interesting theme Ann. I've had a ball and will try to post something new every (grt) Tuesday in future.
@golftragic Congratulations on finishing the 31 Days of Rust Marnie! You've had some spectacular shots this month and I've really enjoyed looking at them. Your calendar looks fantastic!
@olivetreeann Thank you! I have thoroughly enjoyed this rusty month! I can't stop now, so will need to participate in the next couple months of GRT! I have some extra photos that didn't make it into these 31 days! What fun it's been!
@bellasmom Excellent finish Dina! I'm so glad you had fun with this. I did too, and like you had more pictures than days in the month. Maybe a few will show up on a rainy day or two. Thanks for joining in!
Thanks for contributing to our discussion here. It's been so much fun to see what everyone has found and the creative ways you've photographed them. And for those of you who want to keep shooting rust, there are many who post rusty shots on Tuesday with the tag GRT (which stands for Gloriously Rusty Tuesdays). Feel free to join them!
@bellasmom Thanks for sharing all your lovely rusty shots over the month Dina, they've all been great shots and very interesting too. Looking forward to checking your posts on Tuesdays.
Just wonderful!! Who knew rust could be so beautiful!! What a great theme you put together! Don't stop taking those beautiful rust pics! What's up next?
@lbluejaye8 I am about to embark on a month long odyssey of learning a new camera! A loner from a 365 friend and a HUGE step up for me. But keep your eyes open- I'm thinking of doing a book club in September and will post something mid-to-late August so folks can go shopping.
Sounds amazing! I'm still learning to use mine and have started taking photographs for people . . . that is a learning experience in itself! I love to read, although I must confess that photography has subsumed my passion for reading! But I do need to get back into reading . . . after all, I'm an English teacher and that makes it a little awkward that I don't read much anymore! :)
Thank you Lisa, Debs, Hope, Sue, Sally, Alice, Julie, Rose and Marilyn! Looking forward to your posts. Happy rust to you!
@darylo Thanks Daryl!

@lifepause Welcome Jae!!
@bellasmom Nice one Dina!
Could not resist this one Ann
@golftragic Nice one Marnie! Hopefully that rust won't keep this old workhorse from getting the job done!
@bellasmom Another cool find Dina!
Thank you Marnie, Dina and Debs for your rusty contributions to our thread! I am sorry I've been awol for a few days. I'm catching up little by little and will post my rusty pictures soon!
How are your calendars looking? I'm having fun seeing all the patterns emerging from my different rust shots!

Pillows and Blankets in the Back ....
