It’s just 3 weeks to go until the Cambridge meetup on the 9th of April and it is open to all 365-ers. Here is some info for those of you that are coming:
The meetup time will be 10.30am. The meeting place will be outside the John Lewis store on the corner of Downing Street and St Andrews Street. This is right in the heart of the city and is easy to find from the Park and Ride services, the Bus Station, and not too far from the railway station.
As this is the first Cambridge meetup that I am aware of, we will take in the Market, the river and the colleges as well as some local landmarks and other historical places. Some colleges may be closed due to exams or other reasons, and some charge a fee to enter – we will assess this on the day as the situation constantly changes. I have been unable to find a lunch venue willing to take in a large group on a Saturday, but there are plenty of pubs/cafes etc, so we will probably split up and then regroup afterwards (or you can bring a packed lunch if you prefer).
Access to Cambridge by train: Cambridge railway station is well served from London Kings Cross and Liverpool Street. Some direct trains run from Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool and Nottingham but you may have to change trains. From East Anglia there is a direct service from Kings Lynn.
Access to Cambridge by car: If you are travelling by car I strongly recommend that you do not attempt to park in the city centre because: a) it’s expensive, and b) the traffic is crazy on Saturdays and parking spaces can be hard to find. The Park and Ride bus services that operate from the edges of the city are excellent value and there is a bus every 12 minutes or so. I personally will be using the Trumpington Park and Ride service.
Summary of the main Park and Ride Services:
Madingley Road CB3 0EX – from A428 and M11 northbound
Newmarket Road CB5 8AA – from A1303 and A14 junction 35
Trumpington CB2 9FT – from M11 junction 11 and A10
Babraham Road CB22 3AB – from A11/A1307 (also stops at railway station)
Bus Fare: £2.70 for return ticket + £1 parking (You will need your registration number when you pay to park)

I look forward to meeting you all – let’s hope for good weather. I will know some of you from Padlock’s famous London meetups, but I hope to meet some new people, too!
Hi Pete! Thanks for the invite, I would like to come along and meet up with some of you guys, armed with camera! I will drive and use the park and ride as suggested. Here's hoping for good weather (at times!). Will you let us have your mobile number nearer the time in case of unforeseen hold ups? Jackie
@pistonbroke will there with Alison, @dulciknit . Will be coming in on the Madingley park and ride as I have used this. Think the bus station is nearest drop. Mobile number could be good in case of delays or first part of suggested route to try and catch up if delayed. Looking forward.

Hi not sure if you guys are aware but I'm organising a meet up in Cambridge on 9th April. Details are on the site. As you were regular followers of mine for 2 years it would be great to see you there!
@pistonbroke Thanks for the heads up, hopefully I can make it, just checked the calendar and its free at the moment so I may just pop it in the calendar and see what hubby says :-D
Sadly I will be in Iceland or I would have happily helped out! I don't think term will have restarted so the colleges should be open but you're right some are very expensive. You can often get a look in Trinity by looking through the door on Trinity Lane. I don't think Christ's, Pembroke, Emmanuel, Peterhouse etc charge though. Money might be better spent on a punt trip than getting in to the more expensive colleges - I notice that the illegals are back on Garret Hostel Lane - I really don't recommend them - they are uninsured and generally a pain in the neck!! The punts that go from Trinity are legal and are accessed from next to the bridge though one of the back gates of the college. Looking forward to seeing everybody's photos!
@pistonbroke Hi Pete. I would love to, but it's rather a long way for me. However my daughter starts at Cambridge University next October, so I'm sure I'll be in the area at some time.
@paulaw - still up for Saturday Paula? Its firmly in my diary, come wind, rain or shine! I need to be home by 6.30ish though, will that be ok? I don't mind driving, but bear in mind I have a mini and limited space!! We can split the cost of fuel whoever drives though? x
