365 Drop Out

October 30th, 2016
I did this for 3 1/2 years and lost steam and haven't posted any pictures since. I couldn't keep up and opportunities for new photos of things I'd not taken pictures of before seemed to be harder to come by. I have been getting new followers lately. I don't know if I should post occasionally, but I've failed in this year's project. I enjoyed sharing here though, I just don't know what to do.

POST!!! It is a perfect outlet for that occasional fabulous photo and no one cares but you if you post every day or not! You are not a failure of you don't post every day.

It's your project, post as much or as little as you like.

I think you should post. Just post by your rules - once a week, once every few days, something so it stays enjoyable.

There are many people who has said that they quit because of lack of time or inspiration. Guess what, they come back and post from time to time, every as said above, one a week, month or whenever the spirti moves them. Come back and visit from time to time.

do whatever you feel comfortable doing - your project - your rules - I posted every day for the first year - I am now in my 4th year and I do have an image for each day but often on catch up - I am behind at the moment - the only time I stick to time frames now is for challenges - enjoy! whatever you decide

Lots of great input in here! I've left twice and regretted it both times.. Take a break if you need, but I suggest you keep your account, post when you feel like, don't treat it as a need need thing.

I don't shoot everyday (i recently lost my main account due to my littlest one) so just post what you want, when you want and remember its your project and its meant to be fun :D

I only post when I have a shot that I really like. I had a big lull, and am starting to get more into it again, including pictures of things that I have done "before".
Also, I don't pressure myself to post the shot on the day I took it. Getting it on the site took a lot of time, and now I usually post a few together.
It's your project. Noone will wag a finger at you here!

It must be encouraging to get new followers?! I thonk you should follow all this good and well meant advice....

I'm on year #6 and still going strong- BUT I have changed the way I approach the project through the years and I think that helped. My first year was by the "rules" but really as others have said, "Your project, your rules" has been my approach ever since. I have always felt that 365 should be fun and a creative outlet, so I will do what's comfortable to keep it that way and with no other pressures. Bottom line- don't leave unless you feel that's best for you. Otherwise stick around post as you see fit and enjoy your new followers!

@tomsde keep going, I am, even if it's only once a month when the mood strikes :)

This year, I am just doing what I can. It is much more relaxing... better something, than nothing. Don't beat yourself up. :)

Absolutely post whenever you can. I've been a photo bum since about May, but have just posted as I've been able to...sometimes only like 4 times a month, other times consecutively for a whole week or more. Life can get in the way, but this is such a great community and I think just to keep yourself shooting, even if it's only a little here and there, is important. 365 encourages that, at least for me!

I started on Jan 1st & have so far posted a photo every day. Sometimes I do the challenges, sometimes I use a photo I have actually taken that day and maybe use the photos taken on a particular outing for a few days or I do a re-process of an older photo.
I like the challenges - especially the album cover one, I've tried a few Macro ones & artist ones - good for stretching yourself!

Its a Toughy - I joined a few years back, then left because I was just was not posting and kind of got dragged down by trying to take a photograph everyday. I came back, take photographs and try and post as often as I can. Lately, I have not been posting simply because I haven't been taking anything. Then I go out for the day or weekend and I have lots of photos to post so I spread them across the days.
As a lot of people have said here, its your project just relax and enjoy it.
