This post ( http://365project.org/discuss/general/6128/show-off-your-photos-with-little-views-or-comments ) got me thinking about those monkeys....do you have a picture that you really thought had a good chance to make it in the PP page, but didn't? Mine is actually the same one I posted on the above mentioned thread.

So many awesome photos here! I can see how the monkeys must have a hard time deciding. I have yet to make it myself, so if you ever catch one of mine on the PP... be sure to let me know...lol... Good luck to everyone to make it there some day.

And may I suggest that we give some love to those pictures you like on their page (not just here) to help up their views and comments a nd maybe help get them on the PP.
so many good photos get missed depending on when you post...I absolutely am in love with one of my wife's latest photo's which just looks amazing in fact I love it so much I want to frame it and hang it on a wall in our house...so that being said I would like to share my wife's photo:
This is not one of mine; it's off my daughter's project (@jomarie). I think it's absolutely beautiful and full of a feeling of wild expanse and freedom!!!
There are some spectacular shots in this thread!! I was really pleased with this one of mine - mainly because it was a mid-day shot and I made it look like a night shoot. It got a lot views and comments, and even a fav, but I think the fabulousness of it must be all in my own mind, lol
I was so proud of this as it was a really lucky shot and i was really close but i feel its been overlooked probably because of the time of day i posted it

Great idea Laura! I was really pleased with this photo...lots of views and even 2 favs....but no nod from the monkeys. Could it be the title?....maybe?
I just KNEW this one would. I worked really hard on it, and it's sooc too. I think it came close with so many views and a couple favs, but alas...didn't make it :(
@jessleeca I've made it once and it took me by surprise. It wasn't even one of my favorite shots. I'm sure you'll get there one day. I think it goes by the number of favs you have, because the on I just posted of my silhouette had way more views than the one that made it to the pp, but it had 4 less favs.
I've hard that you need to post whenever your followers are online so that they view, comment and fav relatively close to when you post the photo. Or at least that's a theory I've heard. I'm guessing it would also matter if people viewing the recent page spot your photo and click on it rapidly but these are all guesses.
I have just gotten a macro lens and have had some pretty fantastic results but I have not seen the popular page in a while. I post daily but I don't always get to comment and follow so I think that probably plays a role. I miss being more active here but life does demand attention sometimes... At any rate, here is a macro of an iris petal:

I'm enjoying this thread because I'm discovering all sorts of great shots. I agree that many of these should have made it to the hallowed PP.
As for my own shots, I still rank this one as my very best photos:
More recently, I thought this one had a chance of making the cut since it's more "normal" than most of my photos but interesting enough to catch people's eye. Guess I was wrong.
So if you look at this, there are 56 views. That's pretty good actually for one of my pictures. The thing is, it takes a long time for my pictures to gain that kind of viewing momentum so the monkeys miss it because it doesn't get that many view all in the same day. I'm very proud of this picture. I think it's as good as many of the eagle pictures that have spent days and days on the PP. It will always be one of my own favorite shots. I hope you like it too.
I've always wondered if there should be a "these should be popular" page or "why aren't you seeing these?" page. The people that regularly make the top 20 and the popular pages have loads and loads of followers hence views and comments. I'll agree, they're fantastic. Why not scour the "latest" page and pull out the gems and give the lesser viewed but really really great photos that visibility. Oh, and maybe leave them up there for a little longer than an hour. Ok, I'm done now. I love you guys!
This was a really cute photo that my daughter @320days posted of her daughter's diapers. I thought it was PP worthy but, alas, she has so few followers she is rarely recognized. If it's ok, I thought I'd post it here for her.
LOL...I love this shot that almost got me killed. It had more views than any other photo I've ever posted and lots of faves but... ??? I'm not sure of the formula to get on the PP. Not that I need to have anything there, but you asked. :) :) :)
Dont want to seem silly but how do you know if your photo gets to the popular page? Do you get told or is it an ace thing? I never look so wouldn't know. I know that one of mine did but that was an accident on a chance look!
These are all amazing shots! One of my goals is to make it to the PP at least once this year. Fingers crossed. I don't know if I've done anything good enough yet. Just trying to improve my skills is half the fun! Good luck to everyone!
I lost my following, so the monkeys tend to pass over all of my photos. Haha, oh well. I'm still satisfied with my work, even if no one else is...and that's all that matters :)

Funny, though, that there is something about it that doesn't quite sit right with me.
I'm quite pleased how this turned out. I was at the right place on the right day. This bridge very rarely sees sky this clear! I happened to have my compact camera in my bag and took advantage of the opportunity. If I had planned to go out with my ROD and photograph it, it would never have turned out like this!
@lbaker I only got it once but you suddenly get randoms commenting on your pics and your followers number shoots up so it's easier to spot than it sounds!! I've seen people put threads and instead of posting a pic they put a link to that pic, then the pic gets lots more views than say one that is postd on the discussion, crafty, but maybe views get you up there?
I must say, I feel weird doing this... I feel awkward blowing my own trumpet and trying say that my pictures are really good. Having said that, there's the odd occasion where I am disappointed in the reaction to a picture. Here's some of them...
I love this thread, and looking at the great photos on it. Just wish I had time to comment on more of them. I don't think I'll ever make the PP but here are a few of my favourites... Mostly people shots.
This one is SOOC other than a little crop, oh and I filtered it for noise.

The monkeys haven't shown me any love yet (to the best of my knowledge), but I'm very happy with how these two photos turned out:
I'd love to get on the PP at least once before the end of my project, but if I don't, at least I know my photography has improved in leaps and bounds over the past year. :)
It's odd, I have made PP with 4 of my photos (and did a little happy dance each time!) but those were not photos which I would have chosen as being my favourites or which I think were my best.
One of them that was chosen I thought was a fun photograph but it was all down to luck rather than skill in taking it. (I arrived home at just the right time to catch my husband swinging my daughter around in mid air)

I was so pleased to have 4 photos make (briefly) the PP in one week! I think due to the new ace membership. This was from 2 weeks before.
