I'm baaaack!
always a pleasure to host the artist challenge, its a fun way to find out about how different artists approach their work and get inspired with different subjects and techniques.
This time I am featuring Jackie Rankin, an Australasian photographic artist. She was born and worked in Australia before moving to live in Queenstown New Zealand about 20 years ago. She had won many 'pohotographer of the year' awards in both countries for her landscapes, portraits, editorial and illustrative, so her work has a great range of options for you to explore.
Her work is mainly black and white, there are street photos from Australia, aerial landscapes, beautiful landscapes which incorporate texture layers and surreal elements, and her whimsical 'kitchen stories' in which she places kitchen implements into the landscape.
For the artist challenge you can either try to recreate one of her photos as closely as possible or use her work as a springboard for your own imagination and reinterpret her look or subject matter in your own way.
please reference any particular work you used as inspiration in your description for us. and if you wish post your efforts in the discussion here to keep the thread bumped up :)

challenge will run from Friday 10 Jan until Sunday 19 Jan, only photos taken during this period will be considered for voting the following week.
I hope this will be lots of fun, the challenge is open to everyone to have a go , enjoy!
tagging those who have indicated an interest in the artist challenge in the past, if you would like to be added to the list for future challenges let me know below, similarly let me know if you would prefer not to be on this list.
Thanks Kali! The best part of this challenge is spending time learning about photographers! Can't wait to attempt her style.and congrats on your win. That image was amazing.
I am doing the Get-pushed and playing with the words. I want to try everything but there aren't enough hours in the day. I will come back when I want a new challenge and asked to be added then if that is okay.
i will try to get in a post before i leave, otherwise, it may be on the last day. i swear it used to be that these challenges last longer than 2 weeks!
@kali66 This artist's work is awe-inspiring. Thanks. I have done an image influenced by her thoughts and words, not sure if it qualifies. But, just browsing through her work, gave me some insight, and for introducing me to such a wonderful artist, I thank you.
@kali66 it is the one with the boats, titled "waiting for the tide to come in..."
On 14th Jan, thanks for looking in as well as the birds. Jackie has beautifully imparted the concept of focus and how to blur out the rest, in a picture titled "Simplicity". And love how she says, "Inspiration is like the air I breathe..."
And, i think of the moments I say, i am unispired...
Here's my attempt be that as it may. The Pocono region of PA doesn't not have the beautiful NZ landscape! I also noticed that you have spelled her name Rankin but her website lists it as Ranken, so that is how I've spelled it in the title but not the tag.
@olivetreeann oh now I really should have checked the spelling shouldn't I!!!ooops. The gloved hand is one of the more bizarre ones of hers, I wondered if anyone would try it, nicely processed and framed
