Shoot Without Looking is a challenge full of challenges! The first challenge is telling yourself you can't compose the shot. The second is actually following through on that! The third challenge is telling yourself you cannot DELETE the shot! The fourth is finding a creative way to keep it and satisfy your need to make every shot balanced and perfect. Should you be chosen as a finalist and subsequently the winner of this challenge, the fifth challenge becomes evident- how do you choose the next finalists knowing they all went through challenges 1 through 4?! It's not an easy task and I confess I really tossed and turned over this one!
But in the end, I decided I needed to set some sort of criteria so that I'd end up with 5 choices I felt represented the spirit of this challenge. With that in mind I selected the following pictures based on their "unbalanced" (that is un-composed) appearance along with a feeling of spontaneity (that is I could picture the photographer just lifting the camera and pressing the shutter without looking through the viewfinder or even paying attention to where the camera was aimed) and the creative way they processed the shot afterwards (if they did so). I realize this is purely subjective, but it was the only way I could come up with 5 finalists(otherwise you'd have 15 photos to choose from)! So, here they are in no particular order:
Congratulations to you all!
