Extreme sunshine hitting the still-blooming Cosmos caught my eye, so I dashed inside for the camera to begin a photographic assault upon the blooms. After a barrage of rather traditional shots and thoughts of how I could see the Cosmos differently, backlight came to mind (thanks to the influence of 365). After another assault (this time from behind), I analyzed the effects of the various shutter speeds upon the images. This one is my favorite because it shows the sepals, receptacle, and stem clearly enough while still maintaining the brilliance of the sunlight through the petals. Thanks to 365, I learned a new technique and had a lot of fun!
@rhoing Thank you so much, Thom! I appreciate your feedback! I enjoyed experimenting with the technique. In the future, I'll be looking for more opportunities to shoot backlit flowers!
A beautiful shot Janet. I love reading about your excitement in seeing things a little differently now . FAV for both the image and your excitement. :)
Hope you've looked at this against black - it really highlights the parts you were working on so well. Lovely shot - and I'm sure a fun time experimenting.
@janetb And I still think it. So many of the things I've photographed for this project are things I wouldn't have taken the time to notice. The being "forced" to pay attention to the world around me is probably appreciated more than what I've learned about my camera in the two years I've been here.
@lyndemc I feel the same way. 365 has so many wonderful benefits! I've been keeping a gratitude journal for a few years, and my 365 photos are an extension of that. Each day is filled with wonderful gifts, and having to pick up the camera helps me not miss seeing so many! I'm so thankful for your support of my project. Your comments always help me learn! :-)
