All four of these flowers are brown. And no more than an inch wide. Like magic, morning sun streams in through leaded glass and casts a rainbow right onto their tiny, plain brown! Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet paint one flower after another as the sun rises higher and higher in the sky. All of the many other flowers in the big arrangement get the same treatment, but none shine anywhere near as bright as these tiny, brown ones. As I gaze upon this little miracle each sunny morning, I recall one of my favorite quotes:
I understood that every flower created by Him is beautiful, that the brilliance of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not lessen the perfume of the violet or the sweet simplicity of the daisy. I understood that if all the lowly flowers wished to be roses, nature would no longer be enamelled with lovely hues. And so it is in the world of souls, Our lord's living garden. - Saint Thérèse of Lisieux
I like viewing this image best on the black background.
@cejaanderson Thank you for your generous comment and the fav, Jane! It is an amazing sight to behold as one flower after another lights up with the rainbow of colors!
Loved reading what you wrote - this image is stunning - and to realize that it is created basically by the path of light (and a darn good photographer) is amazing - love the bright colors against those brown tones. That quote is wonderful!
@milaniet Thank you, Milanie! Your words are so kind, and I appreciate the fav. I'm awestruck by the rainbow of colors on these little brown flowers every sunny morning, and the quote has long been one of my favorites.
@lyndemc Agreed! :-) I was looking at the little flowers again this morning, watching the sun painting one and then another. I blocked the rays with my hand, and the flowers went back to brown. Moved my hand away, and the rainbow returned. It truly is like magic! Thank you for commenting, Denise! I so appreciate your time.
