Maybe Tomorrow? by janetb

Maybe Tomorrow?

Once again, I set out to photograph colorful leaves with 500 millimeters aimed straight out a window; and once again, something else caught my eye. I just could not pass up the chance to capture seven juvenile American Goldfinches enjoying a meal! I thoroughly enjoyed watching these youngsters, and I’m thrilled to have an image of this scene. The unique light is a result of a glowing canopy of brilliant orange and yellow oak leaves above the feeder. Those leaves I had once again set out to capture. Maybe tomorrow?

I like viewing this image best on the black background.
Super shot.

@rosiekind Thank you for the kind comment and the fav, Rosie! One of the many things I love about 365 is discovering new bird species. It's fun to see and admire birds that we don't have around our home. I'm glad you like my image of the Goldfinches. :-)

Love this - leaves will still be there - this scene might not! What wonderful clarity and lighting. I'm fascinated with that feeder! Love it. Isn't it amazing how much you can find from your window. That muted background is perfect for these little guys.

@milaniet Yes, I am amazed at all that's just outside the window! This is my favorite of the Goldfinch feeders that we have. I love that it attracts so many birds at once and that I can see them all easily. Thank you for your thoughtful comment!

We can wait for that leaf shot. There's no way you could pass up an opportunity like this one! What a unique feeder with multiple stations and even a variety of seed choices. Lucky birdies!

I can't say thanks enough for the precious words you shared on Heather's page. That photo of her on the brick patio, I included it for the very reason you mentioned — that it looks like she's smiling. That's something she did for most of her life. The unusual thing about the picture is that she was caught looking right at the camera. She couldn't bare to look into the black thing that came between her and me sometimes. In the last photo shoot I had with her on Sunday night she tried and tried to look right at me, and finally managed a moment of direct eye contact. What a treasure that picture will always be. I knew in sharing my sad news here on 365 I would find understanding and compassion among fellow dog-lovers. I'm sorry that you know all too well the sadness that comes with these farewells. My prayer is that our Father in Heaven will grant our pets the privilege of living eternally in a beautiful place. They deserve it more than I do.

@lyndemc Thank you, Denise, for commenting on my leaf shot and for your touching words about Heather. What a wonderful gift she was to you. It is clear how very thankful you are for having had her love and companionship in your life, and I have no doubt she was just as thankful for you. God is so very good. In this difficult time, I pray:

The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.
