The Mate by janetb

The Mate

The pretty little female House Finch I posted yesterday became friendlier toward her mate as the day wore on. By dinnertime, she permitted him to visit the feeder for peanuts. The evening sun snuck 'round the house to illuminate the handsome fellow.
Lovely capture

@ziggy77 Thank you, Jo! It was quite dim out there by this point, and the sun entered the scene just as I began snapping. I think this bird was quite happy with the warmth of the sun on its back and a full feeder in front.

What lovely lighting on this dinner scene. Cute story about this finch couple. You can't help but wonder about the inspiration behind their behavior.

@lyndemc Thanks you, Denise! Loved watching them. Chuckled a few times as she zoomed at him to drive him away. Females bossing males around isn't something we normally see. Perhaps she got up on the wrong side of the nest? ;-)
