Giving Thanks! (#1 of 30) by janetb

Giving Thanks! (#1 of 30)

I’m thankful for the gift of birds at my feeders. The endless variety of colors and patterns is a joy to behold, and what a thrill it is to see who will show up next! Will it be one of my “regulars” or a species I seldom see or have never seen? The element of surprise entertains and gladdens my soul! I offer sunflower seeds, nuts, dried fruits, thistle seeds, and suets; and it feels good to provide for God’s creatures. Year-round, and especially lately as I’ve been homebound with an injury, my feathered friends make delightful companions!

I’m dedicating November to giving thanks! For years, I’ve kept a gratitude journal in which I jot down things that I’m thankful for. During this month when we’ll celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, I’m going to take my gratitude for God’s good gifts one step further by photographing a particularly meaningful gift each day for my 365 project! I've always viewed the subjects of my images as gifts, but I'm looking forward to this month of intentionally labeling them as such. This will enable me to spend a bit more time dwelling on God's goodness and offering the thanks that He deserves. If anyone would like to join me in this celebration of grace, please do! I’ll be tagging my images: all-is-grace.
What a wonderful idea! I'm going to tag my sons: @arthur2sheds

I love your thoughts, Janet. Since for the last 4 years all of my shots have focused on nature I have come to feel many of your thoughts - no longer do I take for granted the beauty around me and I notice so much more and am delighted by it. You just phrase it so much better than I. I do love your feeders - your one from the 27th I finally found on the internet and plan to put on my Christmas wish list! This one makes a lovely setting for a shot, too. Do hope you heel is coming along well.

@milaniet Your comment is so kind, Milanie. Thank you! I can see from your images that you have a special eye for the beauty that surrounds you. Your delight in it all is evident! I'm so happy that you liked the Goldfinch feeder and that you found it on the internet. I hope Santa brings it to you! :-) Thank you, also, for your well wishes. I'm looking forward to hearing what the doctor says at my visit on Tuesday. I sure would love to be able to get out of this cumbersome boot and increase my activity. I miss my walks outside and can't wait to get out there and enjoy what's left of Fall!
