Fresh white pine garland drapes windows and railings and doors during the Christmas season; and we often see Carolina Wrens and Tufted Titmice clinging to the long, green needles. We know they’re hiding peanuts snatched from the birdfeeders in the lush greenery for later consumption; but this was a first. A Northern Cardinal sat looking in from the garland in the front door transom, and Cardinals hold a special place in my heart. My Mom loved them! They often show up at unexpected times in unexpected places, and their visits always comfort like the nearness one’s Mother.
I captured this a few days ago but couldn’t quit thinking about it, so into my project it goes. I like viewing it best on the black background.
Great catch! Beautiful caption. I love how God places reminders of His faithfulness and those we love in our lives. We just need to open our eyes to see those reminders! Thanks for sharing how you have done that.
What amazing timing to be in the right place to catch this awesome shot - would have been terrible if he'd come to visit and no one recognized the wonder of it. What a gorgeous door you have. The shot is outstanding on black.
@milaniet The sight of the Cardinal took my breath away, and I could barely believe my eyes. I had my camera in my hands, and I got just 5 shots before he flew away. I don't know how long he'd been watching me through the window! Thank you, Milanie!
As in golf, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Lucky you had your camera to catch the cardinal looking in on you. We had a male cardinal last summer who would come to the window if we weren't prompt with putting out seed in the morning.
Hopped upon my window sill.
Cocked his shining eye and said,
"Ain't you 'shamed, you sleepy-head?"
Well captured.
