Our purple leaf sand cherry stands its shaky ground there in the shade of the tall oaks in the street bed. It would like more sun; but nevertheless, its scant stems push forth pretty, purple leaves and fragrant, pale pink flowers every Spring. I love its unexpected splash of wine behind the blue spruce and green boxwood, and its determined contribution to a bit of curb appeal makes me thankful.
You've composed this shot beautifully - and I do like your titling - quite appropriate given your commentary. Guess we need to keep that in mind more often - determination is a valuable asset.
