We go the Monday before Mother’s Day and have for years. My friend Katie and I begin the day early with a stop for coffee, breakfast, and good conversation about grand gardening plans before heading to the garden market where we purchase so many colorful flowers that we barely fit them into the vehicle! Yellow begonias, a tradition on my porches, always dominate my buggy.
We stop for lunch and more conversation about potting soil and color combinations and plants that did well in the past and plants that didn’t — all things gardening! We talk about where we’ll go for the next load of must-haves as this is the first of many trips to garden markets that both of us will make. We treasure this kick-off to the planting season, and we treasure our friendship!
What a lovely tradition and how truly enriching to share something you both obviously get great pleasure from. Bet this was a wonderful day. Love the picture you posted to commemorate the day and think of all the beauty in the coming months!
