God Knew

Sometimes the consequence of a decision changes lives. Such was the case on the way home from Elk County when Mike noticed a Parker Dam State Park sign along the highway and decided to venture off course for a visit. One left turn and five more miles led to the entrance of this new-to-us park; and once inside, we soon approached a sign for the park’s campground. On a whim, we pulled in. Only God knew why.

Our passion for enjoying nature together began during our dating days over 40 years ago when we quite frequently packed a picnic and headed off for a hike. During those teenage years, we fell in love with western Pennsylvania’s forests and each other; and our dream of owning a place where we could escape to the great outdoors began with a plan to some day purchase a mountain cabin. We married, time passed, and our desire for a mountain cabin became a desire for a boat and, eventually, a lakeside home. Our dream lived on, yet those ideas never felt right. We never took the plunge.

I can still hear Mike’s voice when he saw that sign on the highway. It was getting late. We were wrapping up a fun, full day; but, “We should go. We don’t have to be home at any certain time,” he said. The rest is history. Driving through Parker Dam State Park’s campground among autumn leaves and crackling campfires, years of chasing our dream came to an end with an idea we never imagined. Ten days later, we bought a beautiful camper and gave thanks to a God who knows just what we need and just when we need it. Our God — the instiller and fulfiller of dreams.

The name of our new camper?
THE DREAMCATCHER

Thank God! Pray to him by name!
Tell everyone you meet what he has done!
— Psalm 105:1

@thewatersphotos Thank you for commenting, Gary. God is surely with you in your searching.

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. — Matthew 7:7-8
