I went house-hunting with my friend Sue today. She's looking at houses in the nearby village of Willingham and it was lots of fun (not my money, not my decision - not so much fun for Sue!) We went in a beautiful 1850's cottage by a very nice pub so I'm hoping she picks that one! On a drive around the village which is quite big she let me out by the windmill for a quick P&S shot. The sky was great and I liked the composition but it needed a certain je ne sais quoi. And it got one as I was playing with Picnik and probably can never repeat it but I like it! (Sepia and a wiggle with curves!)
gorgeous shot - the wiggle with curves (whatever that is!) definitely works. Was the pub the Duke of Wellington? I know it well. It's my retreat when Will is at goalkeeper training on Willingham rec on cold winter evenings - they do great pies!
@helenmoss It was - as soon as they said it was famous for pies I was won over! Lovely little cottage next door - lots of original bits and a wood burner in the kitchen so you could live in there for the whole winter!
That's a very nice windmill, and I like the mill stone resting on the side too. I think the sepia in the sky, gives it quite a romantic/nostaligic atmosphere. You can never underestimate the power of wiggle with curves.
Judith, lol, the Sepia and a wiggle with curves works really well...I think you must have gone to the same photo editing school as I did...a few tweaks and slider bar movements and no idea how you did it afterwards :) ...great image
