I took a few shots of this pond iris in front of our new Muskoka chair which I wanted to feature because it took so many coats of paint on so many surfaces that we needed a good sit down afterwards!! Couldn't decide which one to go for so this one won for no good reason other than the tiny ant silhouette ...
Great shot Judith! We have similar chairs at our home, which my grandfather made in the 1920's...after his death I was fortunate enough to inherit them and I painstakingly sanded them back to the jarrah and discovered his lead pencil measurements under the layers of paint. was so thrilled and I've scrapbooked the photos. I painted them white just like yours, but last year I had a "moment" and all my outdoor furniture got painted baby pink....looks lovely with our cream home and pink n white coloured garden. Sorry to ramble but was excited to see your very similar chair!!!
@nattybabe Oooh how lovely to have something lovingly handcrafted by your grandfather to enjoy. We found a company that imports from Canada. Pink sounds delicious - it's tempting but I'm hoping not to have to paint them again for quite a while. We got footstools too which lead to instant sleep!!
I have always loved those chairs, but they look very low down , are they difficult to get out of ? I love your iris picture ..it is so clear & the little bug crawling up the side is just an added special feature! The main thing for me though is the blurred chair in the background !
@happypat I just tested it :0) - because they are higher and rounded at the front they are quite easy - though my knees haven't gone yet! Definitely not as hard as getting out of a deckchair.
A lovely composition with the focus of such hard work in the background and two such beautiful things in one picture (the flower and the chair, not the two flowers ;)). Great depth of field!
beautiful composition with the chair in the background and the iris really pops. My Iris are JUST starting to open over here on the other side of the pond! I'm sure Ill have some pics soon!
