A bit of a cheat as I didn't take this - Nigel shot off and got the camera as I cracked eggs one and two (she did it again!!) to make our first mini omelette. He's turning into a 365er! It was very tasty - I told Nigel how healthy the eggs are as the hens have a low fat, low cholesterol diet but didn't mention the enormous amount of butter I used!
Judith to use on of my many used 'comment' words when err commenting ...this is a 'cracking' image !! You need a 'selfie' tag too....oh and Nigel did a good job with his composition :) ...or was that a lesson learned by you from your course .....eye contact with the photographer for portrait shots :)
@jennlouise Two eggs from our White Leghorn (Powerz Dragon Slayer) - quite small as yet but she's only young. It's ridiculous how amazed I am when I open the nest box and there's an egg!!
do brown hens lay brown eggs, and white hens lay white eggs. i've al to ways wondered, even though we had hens as a child I don't remember bothering about that then!!! It is a bit catching this 365 project, I have someone at home who is quite interested now.......if you can't beat them.....join them!! mind you that didn't happen with you and TSD!
@samdan That's true for our hens (the speckledy should even lay speckled!) but not in general I don't think. The White Sussex we were going to get lays brown eggs. But apparently the browner the eggs the fewer you get which is why Powerz is so prolific. So there's going to be photo competition in the Allen household?! Too late for TSD - my knee's gone!!
What a lovely shot of you! I love your kitchen, even from just the little bit that I see. This almost looks like a spread for a women's magazine - move over Martha Stewart!!!
I'd heard that the eggs from your own chickens are the best as the eggs in the store are sometimes weeks old before we buy them.. I'm jealous, but I also have foxes around. LOL Great snap of you. I love the blue tiles in your kitchen.
Lovely portrait! Butter is miles better than marg did you ever read all the horrid stuff that goes into it? How can that be healthy? Nature knows best - and best is butter and home raised free range eggs!
Oh, this is great! Nigel should get a camera and a 365 account.
I'll bet that was one delicious and nutritious omelet. How wonderful to have your own egg source. You and Nigel did a splendid job with this fun post. Love it!
