See the future

Cambridge is really short of housing for families, and even more short of anything affordable, but the City Council seems to be determined to fill all of the spaces in the city centre with small but expensive apartments aimed at single people who commute to London by train. The latest development is enormous and is surrounded by 'lifestyle' hoardings in which nobody drives a car (or they'd have to admit that congestion will be even worse) and every other person has an i-Pod because they're cool. I'm surprised this graffiti has lasted so long - it's rather too close to the truth.
Sad :(

good catch, yeah that future seems fun.. this sort of ad-editing is quality.

great commentary and find, fun shot - we're on the Tube so have equal problems with insisting on affordable housing in the area - there's supposed to be a percentage

Nice capture, we had the same issue here but it does seem to be on the up, knocking all the 'slums/crime' areas and rebiulding and intergrating.

Judith super shot and commentary . The graffiti is rather subtle , I wonder who put it there ? The problem is common among many of our city centres.

Great shot, I love when people add the truth to ads.

Well done on noticing this. As a South African, I can appreciate to effects of bad decision making when it comes to housing the poor. We have more of it than we can handle, quite honestly.

hear hear. WE too are short of ordinary houses .. all seems to be flats for rent in the town centre as firms fill small brownfield sites to capacity.

Were are all the council house & affordable homes...thin on the ground I expect !! Cambridge will be such a desirable place to live that the less well off are priced out I expect !! Not good for young families who want to stay near their roots ! This is a very subtle poster, I presume the writing was added later & not part of the original !

It;s hard for anyone to get on the property ladder these days. :( Such a shame.

great shot - they've done the same in Bishop's Sortford - and about to do the same in Harlow - housing for the masses - yeah right! love the graffiti - very apt

Good spot! Gotta love the humour of the graffiti artis tho, ace. I think this is true of a lot of places with the housing...
