Cambridge is really short of housing for families, and even more short of anything affordable, but the City Council seems to be determined to fill all of the spaces in the city centre with small but expensive apartments aimed at single people who commute to London by train. The latest development is enormous and is surrounded by 'lifestyle' hoardings in which nobody drives a car (or they'd have to admit that congestion will be even worse) and every other person has an i-Pod because they're cool. I'm surprised this graffiti has lasted so long - it's rather too close to the truth.
great commentary and find, fun shot - we're on the Tube so have equal problems with insisting on affordable housing in the area - there's supposed to be a percentage
Well done on noticing this. As a South African, I can appreciate to effects of bad decision making when it comes to housing the poor. We have more of it than we can handle, quite honestly.
Were are all the council house & affordable homes...thin on the ground I expect !! Cambridge will be such a desirable place to live that the less well off are priced out I expect !! Not good for young families who want to stay near their roots ! This is a very subtle poster, I presume the writing was added later & not part of the original !
great shot - they've done the same in Bishop's Sortford - and about to do the same in Harlow - housing for the masses - yeah right! love the graffiti - very apt
