Thank you so much for all your comments and favs on my photos this week - I am constantly amazed and delighted that they are appreciated and I'm really grateful that you take time to view and comment.
I met up with @helenmoss and our friend Karen today and we took five dogs, including the famous Snowy, on a beautiful walk around Ickworth in Suffolk. The dogs 'sprung' these ducks from a pond at the start of the walk while charging in for a swim/paddle. I tried quite a few shots of the dogs running along the paths but my focus was off. Having been assured by the man on the gate that the dogs were fine off-lead Monty managed to find a damaged fence (dug under by something that he was following the scent of) and found himself in a field full of sheep. While I had a small shouty heart attack Karen manged to whistle and wave with suitable authority and for some reason Monty turned tail and belted back towards her. I couldn't get over the fence myself so you can imagine how relieved I was. The sheep gathered themselves nicely into a flock but were otherwise completely unperturbed. Needless to say he was on his lead after that and my photos were pretty rubbish!
Listened to the news about Gaddafi on the way home and felt so lucky, yet again, to live in a safe and peaceful place. I wish Libyans well in creating the safe and peaceful country they deserve.
Monty does lead you a merry dance Judith !!! I expect he wouldn't come as quickly if you had called him if he's anything like our dogs !!! Lovely clear shot of these birds in flight ....you have had a lovely day !!!!!!
@happypat Too right he does! I've no idea why he turned back but the sheep had stopped and faced up to him - I was too busy hyperventilating to really work it out!! It's a shame as that's another walk he can't be off-lead for - farmers these days aren't doing enough fence maintenance - I bet Harry's were always in good nick!
Dead right,t his fences were always up to the mark !!! I did notice that when you go down to more arable country that the fences weren't maintained quite as well . Dairy cows & beef cattle too do need good fences & hedges as you will remember when you lived 'up north' Judith!!
love the minimalistic feel of this shot judith...it's very arty....as for Monty....I bet he is your bessie mate again...doesn't take them long to work their way back into your good books :)
great silhouettes and blue of the sky
I had a couple of lab crosses which used to ignore me when it was most embarrassing - however, there was the moment in the vets when I enunciated "Sit!" with great firmness, and looked up to see the rest of the waiting room giggling, because every other dog in the place was sitting beautifully
great shot Judith - great story too - naughty Monty! agree totally on Libya situation - makes me feel blessed to have been born in this country...free like these birds
@shanne LOL - I'd love to have seen that! We were laughing yesterday as Helen and I were shouting, 'Stop Maia! Wait Snowy! Sit Storm! Come Monty' at our dogs with varying degrees of success (or not) but we'd look over and Karen's dog, Pip, would have her bottom plonked on the floor waiting!!
what a lovely shot of the ducks against that fabulous blue sky. It was a lovely walk - thanks for showing it us. My excuse for poorly behaved dogs is that with three of them, I can never even remember which one I'm meant to be shouting at - in fact, that applies to the boys too!
Yes, it was quite a jolt to hear that momentous news from Libya straight after such an idyllic morning in the countryside.
These ducks look amazing against the clear bits a fav.I can just imagine you out on your walk with the dogs, I think Snowy will find it lonely when he comes home next week .
Marvelous silhouettes against that brilliant blue autumn sky. Love the tale of your walk with the pack and Monty's escapade...you should have Karen teach you how to whistle with authority!
I agree ~ may Libya know a peaceful future.
Love the black against the blue. I agree with Janna Ellen...could be a poster.
