Walking Monty by a little brook on a chilly grey morning I could hear this wren chirping away quite happily. One of our most common birds, it's small size and brown colour make it difficult to spot. The darkness of the day and resulting slow shutterspeed meant that it was hard to get a sharp shot as any bird movement led to blurring - and wrens are notoriously busy. I'm sorry I didn't get a clear view of the turned up tail as it's my favourite part!
@fueast I have deleted 15 failed versions! Luckily the dog was distracted by a horse but you're right - long lens, dark morning, moving bird, dog on lead is a sad photography combo. It's a lot better than my kingfisher shots anyway!
super capture Judith - I love wrens but capturing them is really tricky cos they are so fast! You did a great job here - I love their cocked tails too!
Birds are so hard to capture. I like the blur tha gives a feeling of action and all the colors and shapes in the background setting are really good, adding to the feeling of being in nature.
I don't think I have ever seen a wren in real life & I would have been thrilled to see this let alone take a picture !!! Wonderful capture Judith & such a soft focus with that wonderful green & the little bird balancing so well on that leaf !! A fave definatly !
This is fantastic , shame you couldn't get the tail, we have a little wren which is frequently outside our kitchen window but I have not been able to get a picture , they are so quick .your picture is beautiful its a fav
