The only thing harder than persuading teenagers that they want to go out for a walk with their parents is persuading them to wait while their mum takes photos.... For the second time this week I was dazzled by low winter sun all the way to our walking destination only to have it disappear for good as I pulled in to the car park. So I didn't get the tree shadows I was after but there are so many interesting trees (and sheep) at Ickworth that I still had things to snap. I'm afraid it's another brief visit today (this time due to mulled wine...) but I will be fully compos mentis and commenting tomorrow!
Fantastic silhouettes and light. Almost a pair of lone trees too. I sort of want to crop off that bit of a tree on the right to make the other two look more lonely. Are those heads?
we did a two hour walk this morning 930-11.30 and then home, quick change and off to my eldest daughter for boxing day lunch and festivities....I wish I'd seen a skyline as good as this judith :)
@fueast Yes - annoying that one on the right but I couldn't get further round without taking a machete to the undergrowth and the National Trust frowns on machetes. Not heads - sheep!
Fabulous! The colours are great (and again I was drawn to a photo of silhouettes!)
We usually go for a walk too, but still haven't this Christmas. Tomorrow maybe. If not, I'll have to wait until new year's eve...(working inbetween)
PS FYO my now adult kids love going on hikes with or without me now...though they do get bored with my taking photos. I figure they owe me after all the thousands of stops when they were little looking at every bug and worm and everything else
Love that low angle that shows the sheep grazing & those clumps of grass! Always amazed at how wonderful trees look in silhouette against various different skies!! Sounds like you're having a great Christmas...I haven't cooked a meal since Saturday... yippee !! I must say my folks haven't much patience with stopping for photos either !!!!
love the tones in this one Judith - superb winter tree! Ah i remember those days of being dragged out for the Boxing Day walk as a teenager. No such feelings nowadays!
Beautiful Judith....sorry about the mulled wine after effects!! Hope you and yours had a great time.....when will teenagers learn that the Christmas walk is all part of the routine! They will look back on it with fondness :-)
