I've been struggling to decide which other Marrakech pictures to post and have plumped for this one because it really shows the warmth of the Moroccan people. Friday, as a holy day, was very relaxed and there were groups of men all over playing various games together. In fact we noticed that the men are very tactile and often greeted each other with a kiss or a hug and the younger men were particularly deferential to older people they met. We had hammam (Turkish bath type thing) and massage one evening and the masseuse was telling me that she knocks along her neighbours' doors on a Saturday or Sunday evening and they all go to the public hammam and bathe together. It seems like there's a lot to be said for the lifestyle - people don't shut themselves away with the TV but get out and socialise.
I love the little group of men so intent on their game as the focal point of the photo and then all the details of the stalls around it. The open- ouvert - notice above them seems almost like a title. Great!
