It's been ages since I went walking with @helenmoss and her dogs and our friend Jenna but we made up for it today. We did an 11.5 ish mile circuit along Fleam Dyke from Fulbourn. There was something of a mis-judgement on the map-reading front and it was about twice as long as we expected - luckily a chance encounter with a burger van in a lay-by on the A11 meant that we'd bought water for the dogs (I am so used to rain that I didn't have any). The rest of us survived 5 hrs on Jenna's tin of mini mints, a muesli bar and a four finger Kitkat! There is a lot of chalk en route and the plant diversity was amazing. We met a couple doing a butterfly survey who said it's been a very poor year though. Anyway - I carried an unnecessary raincoat along the entire route and came home with a sunburnt forehead and an exhausted doggy!
Think of all the weight you will have lost Judith....oh that sounds awful, I don't mean you need to lose any but us women think like that don't we ...or I do anyway!! Beautiful poppies but a heck of a walk..five miles is around my comfortable limit.
I think poppy red is the best red ever and this shot is lovely. Don't get to see many poppies around here. A long walk sounds great but right now even two steps outside would seem like a death march as we're in the midst of a heat wave the likes of which we hadn't seen in quite some time. Will have to hit the treadmill instead.
@happypat Oh I was definitely thinking that Pat especially as my diet has reached a hiatus. Unfortunately I compensated with a Nobbly Bobbly ice lolly and a Galaxy!
Judith , love the poppies, they are always beautiful, the rain has trashed our poppies in our garden........."sunburnt forehead and an exhausted doggy" ...sounds like a great day :)
Helen told me about your hike ! she said it was very pretty with all the wild flowers on route . seeing your beautiful photo I can see . she also said poor Monty was almost ready for a carry home
@snowy They were relatively quiet because of the heat and even they were sneaking a lie down when they got the chance! My legs are fine - it was just hot and we were a tad hungry!
