Well we had a fabulous family dinner out in Horsham on Saturday night to celebrate mum and dad's wedding anniversary. Great to get together en masse and the restaurant was great. Towards the end of the evening the younger contingent mobilised electronic devices to keep track of Mo Farrah's amazing double and Tom Daley's diving competition. We were on the edge of our seats waiting to see if he got a medal after he looked so uncomfortable in qualifying. And woohoo!!! What a fabulous young man he is - great strength of character and lovely to see the famous smile back. This is the beauticians in Horsham - a couple of week's respite and then the Paralympics kick off so they won't need to redo their window just yet. Huge thanks for all the comments and favs in recent days and weeks - I don't seem to be able to get down to 365 and do it full justice but I really appreciate all the feedback you continue to give me. Waiting for old friends to arrive this evening - visiting from Israel and it's a few years since we saw them. It will be quite good fun watching Adam squirming as his best friend at 4 years old has grown into a beautiful 15 year old young lady :0)
This is a very patriotic display & she did Horsham proud here! Sounds like a great night & glad you were able to keep up with events!!! I am going to get my PJ's on ready for bed just before 9pm & watch the whole closing ceremony. You must pretend not to notice Adam & the young lady & how they react to each other , he will be embarrassed!!
Well I didn't see any of it live but not sure what I will do without the Olympics. Roll on the para's because I bought a new tely and there's not much else on worth watching!
Very appropriate shot! Wonderful Olympic action and so sad it's all coming to an end. Roll on the para's tv just won't be the same without it! Wing us a sneaky shot of Adam and said lady please. It's amazing what a difference 10 years can make!
Yes, it has been a frenzied couple of weeks hasn't it, with the Paralympics just around the corner to look forward too... my son is in Israel on a three month assignment with the EAPPI, a programme supported by the World Council of Churches to observe Palestinians living in occupied territory and supporting their human rights...
We've had fabulous coverage out here and the camera tours of London and surrounds have been so interesting...just like this window! Brits seem to have had a great two weeks and the performances of your athletes has been wonderful to watch although I did enjoy watching the Australian Men's Hockey players overcome GB for bronze and allow our three CQ hockey reps come home with a medal.
@ubobohobo We went to see your hockey boys play twice Margaret. When they are on it they are incredibly good - just got rattled once or twice. Shame they beat our boys - we were hoping Adam's teacher would bring back a medal!! Did you see my pic of the Aussie TV man in extras - still trying to work out if anybody's heard of him!
Congrats to your mum and dad! Sounds like a delightful celebration of their big day.
I loved every minute of the 2012 Olympics!! London and GB did a magnificent job as host to the world! Hated to see it come to a close last night ~ but what a fabulous Closing Ceremony party! One of the great outcomes of the Games was Farrah and Rupp coming in 1 and 2 in the 10,000m after training together. That was fun to watch! ~ Almost as fun as it will be for you to see Adam's reaction to his childhood friend all grown up. :)
@peggysirk Not too partisan then Peggy? Our coverage was very biased and the crowds were obviously full of Brits - I wondered if it came over a bit one-sided. Presumably your nice NBC lady was only covering your medal winners - those rowing girls were a beautiful lot!! And I think every country has adopted Bolt!
@judithg The crowds were wonderfully partisan as I fully expected them to be ~ cheering on their home teams and athletes. Even Wimbledon was rocking with raucous home fans...not your typical tennis crowd. :) It was all so fun! We had pretty much 24 hour coverage on three different NBC network channels...and yes, the NBC announcers weren't trying very hard to hide their pro-USA disposition. So it all evened out. :)
I loved Mo! I loved when he and the boy from the US went first and second and they were so happy! those are the things that make the Olympics special!! congrats to tom dailey.....they did a piece about him on our TV and he does seem like a nice young man. the boy who won the diving gold, david boudia, grew up about 45 miles from my home. we are all proud.
i'm having olympic withdrawals today!
Great shot, so glad you had a terrific party. The commantating was patriotic to say the least. I don't think there was anywhere near as much coverage in the States.
Love the tones. Feels so nostalgic.
