Morning at the market by judithg

Morning at the market

Last day of the school holidays today so we were out and about early buying school shoes and trousers. We've had eight weeks to do it in but hey - there's homework still being finished as well. And anyway the boy keeps growing. Just shy of 6' with his hair squashed down now and towering over me. Some cool artwork being produced at the last minute luckily. Emerging from M&S with bargain goodies for tonight's dinner the sun was working its magic on the centre of Cambridge.
Thanks for all of your support and comments of late - I don't tend to do individual replies as not everybody is keen but I do appreciate every single one.
Three good things:
1. Last day of the school hols (also counts as a bad thing depending on how I look at it but generally I think he's started to stagnate).
2. Remarkably straightforward school shopping completed, followed by coffee with the victim - other occasions have been followed by tears so that's definitely a good thing.
3. Rachel's made Ninjabread cookies in karate shapes (not actually ginger - chocolate chip) - delicious!
Where did that summer go?? back to school and not a tan to show for it! It's no fun unless you leave it all to the last minute lol Wonderful late summer English picture.

"We've had eight weeks to do it in but hey - there's homework still being finished as well. And anyway the boy keeps growing. Just shy of 6' ..." ditto!

@sleepdozer57 Hey - I can't go cropping out the architecture willy nilly! @wrighty started it - positive psychology - she's promised it will work and we will all be happier (at least I think she promised). http://365project.org/discuss/general/13991/3goodthings

I saw the word Boston to the left of your photo and suddenly thought you lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts. But I think that's not true. Love street markets.
September 4th, 2012
@ptowncook That's Boston Lincolnshire - VERY different to the Mass version!
September 4th, 2012
I think we just copied everything from you. For instance, I live in Truro!
September 4th, 2012
So very colorful. I didn't know there was another Boston.
September 4th, 2012
Wonderful, colourful Cambridge market - and that blue, blue sky!
September 4th, 2012
Really like the great composition and the striking colour.

@ptowncook @judithg Yes, I think most of New England is a mirror image, name wise, of Old England. Those pilgrims had no imagination.

@meisen325 LOL!! @ptowncook Truro is a lovely town!

That's a fabulous view, I can just imagine standing there but don't think I've ever taken the trouble to look over the top of the market stalls. You have a photographer's eye!

Oh yes, like this shot. The market looks nice and colorful and the weather lovely. The light seems a bit autumnal already though - low and shadowy.
September 4th, 2012
@meisen325 Yes - it's definitely noticeable especially in the mornings.
September 4th, 2012
This is so colourful. Love the blue sky - summer must be over if the nice weather is here. ;)
September 4th, 2012
oo looks like you have blue sky too, better without the stifling heat.
September 4th, 2012
Beautiful sunny photo of two contrasting halves.
September 4th, 2012
Lovely colourful shot

lovely azure sky. I love how the light touches this time of year.
September 4th, 2012
It's a shame it's back to school , when the weather is so good. Lovely photo of the market
September 4th, 2012
@busylady It was shouting at me this morning!
September 4th, 2012
Haha! I always used to leave buying school uniform to the last minute!!
September 4th, 2012
@meisen325 LOL. Not only did they steal from home, they stole from the Native Americans. A lousy lot, those Puritans!
September 4th, 2012
terrific colors. Oh I remember how much I dreaded the school clothes shopping. Summer vacation homework? Yikes. No wonder the states are falling behind
September 4th, 2012
...and what's a holiday for anyway..?
September 4th, 2012
You are very lucky to have such a good school uniform trip! The right sizes on the last day of holidays is unheard of isn't it?!
Lovely colours :)

Love that market awning with the magnificent building overlooking the whole square...very upmarket market if you ask me, not quite the same as Bury market!!! Sounds a very satisfying morning & Adam all kitted out for school with out too much hassle ! What a strapping young man he has grown into Judith, you must be very proud of both your children.
September 4th, 2012
a nice candid scene judith, the lady is perfectly placed in the frame , although her pose is probably not one she would be pleased with !!! Back from my hols with loads of pics to sort out and post !!! I even did a bike shot in Mahon !
September 4th, 2012
@phil_howcroft I'm looking forward to that!!
September 4th, 2012
What a gorgeous day and market scene - and congratulations on coffee rather than tears after school shopping. That's huge.
September 4th, 2012
I love the old with the modern stalls, my son towers over me as well, make me feel I am shrinking.
September 4th, 2012
I like the combination of church and market. You can imagine a very similar scene happening every week for hundreds of years!
September 5th, 2012
I love the colors and there is so much to see in this shot. Very interesting.
September 5th, 2012
Great shot - wonderful colours and composition. I will be in Cambridge at the end of the week - can't wait.... :-)
September 5th, 2012
Great street shot Judith. Wonderful colours and composition. An amazing way to start the day!
September 5th, 2012
