Feeling a bit emotional today as my baby boy turns 16. I'm just coping with my first born flitting the nest and the remaining one goes and gets all grown up. I'll be OK after a G&T. I've spent half the morning searching through very badly organised photos (there were albums just about up to Adam being born - at that point I obviously had other things to do!!) We have a black hole from when we first got a useless digital camera - terrible quality shots and stored on some computer back up disc I never seem to be able to find. Oh well - no room for any more anyway but I do wish I could find the photos of him in his fairy outfit - he was very fond of it!
Three good things:
1. My lovely boy has safely reached 16 and is busy working hard for GCSEs and playing hockey and basketball rather than doing any number of less desirable things. Can't ask for more than that
2. Rachel sent him a hilarious custom made birthday card - a spoof magazine cover under the title 'Vague'.
3.I've made a large cake.
I bet you have been immersed in lots of happy memories, looking through photos of your son! Happy 16th to him! As the mother of a 21 year old son, I can't believe how fast the years fly by! A wonderful way to commemorate your son's first 16 years! He is a fine looking young man!
This is such a perfect present for him - you're the sweetest mum ever! I'll take your story as a reminder to organize my photos well right from the start but I'll probably not be able to keep it up anyways ;). Happy birthday to Adam!!!
This is a wonderful collage, Judith, with I'm sure a lot of great memories. When my kids left the nest, I had a very hard time with it, too, especially with my youngest. I did adjust, though.
Oh, another momentous milestone in your family, Judith! They're coming at you in rapid fire. Enjoy that G&T! :) Well done, mum...Adam has grown from an adorable little tadpole into an obviously well rounded and handsome young man! Have another G&T with a piece of cake and celebrate!
well good for you - i know how you feel, you deserve that drink, and you've baked cake. Top mum.
what a rollercoaster eh.. ours is 16 too and it's been emotional! good fer you. again. x
I think Adam will be most relieved you couldn't find the fairy outfit photos Judith!!!! He will be embarrassed enough about these going on line!!! A very happy birthday to your very good looking son & hope he enjoys his birthday tea. Have another G&T, a special day for you too!!!
What a brilliant collage, I love the idea :) no wonder your a bit emotional at the moment! Would quite like to see the fairy outfit on now though! Enjoy the cake!
Awwww, I feel your pain Judith having only just gone through this myself. My baby turned 16 on September 23rd. This is a beautiful way of showing his transition from babyhood into adulthood xx
I think it was 1972...when i was 16...half of todays modern tecno-world was not even here...there was pressure then, but not like today it is quite alarming....to be under such intense pressure at the mere age of sixteen just for exam results alone, fingers crossed for his O level results...and thank you for your kind words on uni entry..thank goodness for Chardonnay..Poppet took her ukcat last week scoring 2,500 and odd a big relief....lol...yes happy birthday...
@judithg LOL! takes a lot of years to practise grunting...I wa svery good at it by the time I was 14!!
Luckily the last 26 years have been spent practising smiling again!!
What a wonderful collection of snaps! Although the poses have changed through the years, it is evident he is a happy fellow and a genuine smile goes a long way in life!
Hasn't he turned out well he is a good looking lad . I have been sorting out pics of Amy (our granddaughter) going from baby - to 21 and framed as a keepsake for her birthday on the 12th of this month to go with the most useful gift money. I am sad I will not be able to see her on the day as i will be in hospital. btw Happy belated birthday to Adam
What a beautiful tribute. I think I'll borrow the idea for my grandaughter who is turning 18 this week end. Realized this morning how long it is since I visited...not since the Olympics in fact. I've enjoyed my browse. The addition of "Three positives" got me thinking. I've been following the blog "Three Beautiful Things " for several years now and love the concept for busy people wanting to journal their day. I tried it before I got hooked on 365 but now you've combined the two! Mmmmmm.
