Sorry if I freak anybody out with this - it's a combination of a quick iPhone shot of some scaffolders this morning and a couple of Halloween effects for the theme. I've tamed the flames to make it less horrible as I don't want to induce a recurrent nightmare I used to have about fire. Scaffolders are mad I think - these two didn't seem to be strapped on by anything and it worried me.
BUT Three good things:
1. Saw my first ever indoor hockey game - a loss but to an excellent team who have a lot more games under their belts.
2. I've started a really good book (so far) - The Shoemaker's Wife by Adriana Trigiani - plenty of tears though so I won't be able to read it when I'm expecting a parcel - I've done that before and worried the postman!!
3. Final of Great British Bake Off - though that's also rather a sad thing. If you're not in Britain you should campaign for one for your country - though lots of its charm is the quintessential Englishness.
Oh my gosh...that's incredibly creepy...looks a bit like a public execution. Incredible effects in this shot. Totally freaks me out.
Your Great British Bake Off sounds a bit like "Top Chef" over here.
Oh goodo two hanging men!!!!! Just the thing for Halloween & how well you captured the effect! Makes you think what public hangings must have been like when doing the shopping!! I have heard of that book so might be one to put on the list?
Was very surprised when John won were you Judith, I felt sure Brendan had nailed it with that divine cloud cake, he is so precise with his work & must have hated that messy French Fancy.
@happypat I was a bit disappointed with all of them in some ways. They looked a bit cumbersome and out of proportion. Cathryn and Danny would have done something more beautiful!! I couldn't call it really and thought Brendan might get it on overall performance but he's a bit old fashioned for them perhaps. Still John will use it to good effect I think and how those two boys did their exams as well I don't know? They both looked shattered.
@happypat Great idea especially with all this independence talk but he over stretched (and not for the first time really!) lovely lad though - that posh girlfriend should keep hold!!
really like this shot - nice effects..thought it was a sunset to start then got confused with the fire thing!! I loved the bake off tonight - and was happy to see John win...Brendan was next...James did totally blow it @happypat , I had to laugh when he dropped the cake mix on the floor...you could see it was an accident waiting to happen!
@peggysirk All complete amateurs Peggy but very passionate about their baking. Something almost identical in New Zealand but the name has slipped my mind.
Great shot! I watched GBBO too and was surprised but pleased John won. I thought Brendan was a bit too finicketty and rather too confident. Loved John's heaven and hell cake. James was great entertainment though don't you think? I loved his disastrous gingerbread barn which he then 'distressed' with spun sugar!!
That is truly scary. Great image and edit! I've had that problem with the crying ever since I started taking my kindle with me in the tram - I had to stop reading sad books because people looked at me like I was a crazy person bawling away in public transportation...(that was when I read "One Day").
they look like theyve been tied up by their hands! As for health and safety stds...hmmm...sad to say I have become used to seeing things that would have OSH (NZs govt body responsible for occupational health and safety) flipping out....we saw a gang of road workers yesterday working with jack hammers etc in bare feet! not for the faint of heart that for sure.
