Scaring myself by judithg

Scaring myself

Sorry if I freak anybody out with this - it's a combination of a quick iPhone shot of some scaffolders this morning and a couple of Halloween effects for the theme. I've tamed the flames to make it less horrible as I don't want to induce a recurrent nightmare I used to have about fire. Scaffolders are mad I think - these two didn't seem to be strapped on by anything and it worried me.
BUT Three good things:
1. Saw my first ever indoor hockey game - a loss but to an excellent team who have a lot more games under their belts.
2. I've started a really good book (so far) - The Shoemaker's Wife by Adriana Trigiani - plenty of tears though so I won't be able to read it when I'm expecting a parcel - I've done that before and worried the postman!!
3. Final of Great British Bake Off - though that's also rather a sad thing. If you're not in Britain you should campaign for one for your country - though lots of its charm is the quintessential Englishness.
Yikes. This is what nightmares are made of! Great one

haha, that does make scaffolding look even more scary. I am multi-tasking with Great British Bake off - very tense!

It looks like a medieval hanging, very good for the theme.

Good grief it does look like a hanging. Where's your quote today? WOuld have been apt! Certainly a good one for the theme though.

Jo
Oh lord!! Lol it's quite fabulous!
October 16th, 2012
Oh my gosh...that's incredibly creepy...looks a bit like a public execution. Incredible effects in this shot. Totally freaks me out.
Your Great British Bake Off sounds a bit like "Top Chef" over here.

Amazing composition and processing here Judith. Thanks for the directions which got me to the training session OK today

Immense!
October 16th, 2012
It turned out great. Scary!

Oh goodo two hanging men!!!!! Just the thing for Halloween & how well you captured the effect! Makes you think what public hangings must have been like when doing the shopping!! I have heard of that book so might be one to put on the list?
Was very surprised when John won were you Judith, I felt sure Brendan had nailed it with that divine cloud cake, he is so precise with his work & must have hated that messy French Fancy.

@happypat I was a bit disappointed with all of them in some ways. They looked a bit cumbersome and out of proportion. Cathryn and Danny would have done something more beautiful!! I couldn't call it really and thought Brendan might get it on overall performance but he's a bit old fashioned for them perhaps. Still John will use it to good effect I think and how those two boys did their exams as well I don't know? They both looked shattered.

@judithg Yes John a first in law..how on earth did he do that!! I was routing for James but he blew it with his messy effort.
October 16th, 2012
@happypat Great idea especially with all this independence talk but he over stretched (and not for the first time really!) lovely lad though - that posh girlfriend should keep hold!!
October 16th, 2012
That's really quite freaky!
October 16th, 2012
really like this shot - nice effects..thought it was a sunset to start then got confused with the fire thing!! I loved the bake off tonight - and was happy to see John win...Brendan was next...James did totally blow it @happypat , I had to laugh when he dropped the cake mix on the floor...you could see it was an accident waiting to happen!

@peggysirk All complete amateurs Peggy but very passionate about their baking. Something almost identical in New Zealand but the name has slipped my mind.

@rosiekind Hills Road horrendous this am - what route did you chose?!
October 16th, 2012
Great one for the theme, definitely scary looking, they do look like they are hanging at first glance.
October 16th, 2012
Oh this is very well done!! Love it!
October 16th, 2012
I thought the Romans had come back lol
I enjoyed last years BBO very much so enjoy!

October 17th, 2012
Looks like they are suspended there! Precarious!
October 17th, 2012
very cool shot!
October 17th, 2012
Brilliant Judith, really effective! Well done! Loved 'Lucia' by Adriana Trigiani, an excellent story. Think that was the title, read some time ago.
October 17th, 2012
Love the effects!
October 17th, 2012
Eek! it does look a but gruesome, great for the theme though =)
October 17th, 2012
Great shot! I watched GBBO too and was surprised but pleased John won. I thought Brendan was a bit too finicketty and rather too confident. Loved John's heaven and hell cake. James was great entertainment though don't you think? I loved his disastrous gingerbread barn which he then 'distressed' with spun sugar!!
October 17th, 2012
The silhouettes make them look as if they're hanging. Great use of the scary flames too xx
October 17th, 2012
it's not scary judith it's very arty ...they look very statuesque
October 17th, 2012
Eye-catching image!
October 18th, 2012
That is truly scary. Great image and edit! I've had that problem with the crying ever since I started taking my kindle with me in the tram - I had to stop reading sad books because people looked at me like I was a crazy person bawling away in public transportation...(that was when I read "One Day").
October 18th, 2012
Glad it wasn't me - love the sky behind.
October 19th, 2012
@jannaellen Whatever you do don't read 'Me before you' JoJo Moyes - I was useless in NY because of that book - bawled from start to finish.
October 19th, 2012
they look like theyve been tied up by their hands! As for health and safety stds...hmmm...sad to say I have become used to seeing things that would have OSH (NZs govt body responsible for occupational health and safety) flipping out....we saw a gang of road workers yesterday working with jack hammers etc in bare feet! not for the faint of heart that for sure.
