A very foggy start to the day this morning which wasn't top of my weather choices for an early trip to Stansted airport. However, my general neurosis meant that we got to the airport in plenty of time and the hockey players have headed off into the sunshine. I didn't sleep at all well worrying about missing the flight so now I feel rubbish but I took Monty straight out when I got home with a view to getting some misty shots. To my delight we have acquired 'Play me' pianos overnight and when I asked this talented young woman if I could take her photo she burst into song for me. Sadly the lady who decorated this piano was also watching and says that most had been kicked in overnight. Why would you do that?
Three good things:
1. Music and art and talented people
2. Quiet airports
3. Vets (both cat and dog off there this afternoon :0( )
Your'e early today Judith! I am just catching up with the comments but haven't taken my photo yet!
Love the idea of these Play Me pianos, Jack went on one somewhere & they are a brilliant concept. You would get the complete difference of someone who delights others with their music & the morons who would kick a piano!!!
Great tilt of the head & the long view beyond...a really unusual capture.
Does chopstix have words..? Sad people think it's fun to vandalize them...
Puts people off coming up with these ideas to brighten up the place really..and good luck at the vets...
I've seen these in Europe before - never kicked in though. Why would anyone do that? BTW who won the remnants theme? Or hasn't it been decided yet? Well done on getting into the top 5 again with your bike shot. Good luck.
Great pov and street shot, she really looks like she is having fun. I havnt heard of these pianos before. Such a shame that such things are vandalised.
I LOVE this eclectic shot, your subject's enthusiasm, and the "Play Me" arts project. I hate that there are those who would find satisfaction in wanton destruction. :( This wonderful, funky image is an absolute "fav"! Such a feel good shot!
Quite a quirky and joyous shot - how lovely to put free pianos all over the city. And how horrible that they get smashed :(. I'm also someone who goes to the airport five hours early because I'd hate to miss my flight. Hope Monty and Raffiki are ok!
I've never heard of these play me piano's before, what a fab idea, and what a shame someone always wants to ruin it :( I am always incredibly early for flights and everything! I absolutely love how this girls head is slightly tilted backwards like she's reallt caught in the moment, go one girl sing!! What did you play afterwards? ;)
What a wonderful find and capture Judith, I really believe we outnumber the morons big time, so I hope this wonderful idea takes off. I am always frightened of missing flights and worry until I am sitting at the gate.
Great idea. England is really a happening place. Too bad about the vandalism - what is wrong with these people??? Love the atmosphere in this shot. Makes me think of an illustration for a modern fairy tale. Wonderful depth.
ah that night before the airport feeling - another good reason to leave the night before!! Shame these pianos had been kicked in...some people have no sense! great shot of this girl singing her heart out
Sounds just like me. I always prefer to be early to everything!! Love this. It's a wonderful idea and I have no idea why people feel the need to be so destructive xx
What a splendid backdrop! I could only play for a few minutes, then would run out of songs that I know by heart. What a fun concept - but not so easy to move a piano!
Wonderful shot! Love the colours and her obvious delight and enthusiasm. Glad the hockey team are safely on their way to warmer climes. Such a pity that all some people can manage is mindless violence and destruction.
