I've just looked again at @jannaellen's pretty baby collage and decided this looks a bit dark but it's only this or a darker one! I took Adam over to his friend's last night and one of the houses down there (they are all massive) has the most beautiful decorations - shapes of different fairy lights hanging from their outside trees so I took my camera in the hope of something good - but alas they were swinging in the wind and no good for photos. So on the way home I stopped at Clare to take a photo of the gate. I was messing about trying to get an interesting shot when I realised a family was coming towards me in the dark. And then, being a bit dense, I eventually realised that the gate was open and I could go down to where it's much more interesting. So this is taken on the bridge looking back towards the road. I may play around with one from the other direction tomorrow.
Three good things:
1. I cleaned the oven ready for Christmas dinner.
2. I cleaned the oven again after Rachel did some cataclysmic baking - she's blaming the scales - I'm not sure the cake tin is recoverable.
3. I saw my friend who had a hip replacement recently and she was going great guns - walking much much better than before and the pain is gone. She isn't very old and the surgeon said the old one was, literally, on its last legs which means she didn't have the operation unnecessarily early.
I think possibly best viewed large again.
Very atmospheric! I guess the rain can offer some photo ops....we got soaked in London yesterday and then steamed on the tube!! fancy cleaning the oven before Christmas!! I'd wait til after.....then probably forget it!! I did manage to burn my honey glaze!!
@Cherrill It doesn't get done very often AT ALL Cherrill (definitely not twice a day - I was most peeved) - I just happened to find some oven cleaner I bought ages ago under the sink and decided to do something about it!
looks positively miserable there weather-wise! great winter's evening shot! laughed at Rachel's cooking disaster, especially as oven had just been cleaned...sounds like something I'd do!
I have enough strength after working 23 days non stop to scribble...Have a good Christmas and all the best for the forth coming year..one exceedingly tired Postman with one last push tomorrow.
@sparkle i thought about you on this bridge because you'd get the right settings! Rachel only redeemed herself by not using all the ingredients I need for Tuesday.... But only by chance!
@tsingtao Thank you!! And for being a heroic postie (waiting for one last present tomorrow!) 23 days non-stop?! Hope you've got lots of tips. How's the Uni applications going? Have a lovely day on Tuesday with an extra large glass of Chardonnay?
@fueast Wet Wet Wet. Fine today but more expected tomorrow - feel very sorry for the houseboat lot - hard work when the river's over its banks and is surging towards the weir...
Simply gorgeous! The reflections and lights are marvelous! A beautiful Christmas Eve eve shot.
I can relate to how daughters 'helping' in the kitchen can result in extra cleaning time, breakage, and general chaos. Of course, I keep all complaints to myself and totally rave about their culinary expertise and how delightful it is to have them there...because those are the good truths. :)
@peggysirk Nigel gave me an 'it's Christmas' look so I remained calm - mind you he hadn't had his head in the oven for half an hour! I'll let her peel potatoes tomorrow ;0)
