Apologies for this not being up to scratch. Kneeling on the wet grass at Churchill College trying to reign in Monty with my left hand and managing zoom, focus (manual) and composition with my right hand as well as trying to prop my camera in the grass pretty much defeated me. Thanks for the lovely feedback on yesterday's photo and story. Not much to report yet although I did have a lovely e-mail from the letter-writer.
Three good things:
1. Having a nice chat and cup of coffee with my neighbour even though they couldn't help with my quest (they gave me another name to try though).
2. My neighbours being pleased that they were too young to help.
3. It didn't snow after all and the sun was out.
@blincodave No I used a zoom - I didn't dare get too close due to trampling dog.... He positioned himself squarely between me and target on several occasions....
@judithg Brilliant! I have an idea. You should write a book and illustrate it with your photos. Working titles: Teach your dog photography or 'The Art of Photography with canine assistance'. Should you proceed with the idea, I would , naturally, expect a share of any royalties!
It turned out lovely, especially viewed against black. I think Dave has a great suggestion, even for your/our amusement; we'll have your beautifully composed photo, then a wider shot of your subject, the romping dog, etc. in another album (and eventually in the book!) I think you may need a second shooter occasionally--that would be Dave, right?
Well I actually really like this, enough to fav it. It's gorgeous. I love the soft focus area of the grass with the superb crisp focus on the snowdrops xx
I think this is lovely. The softness is a nice contrast against the sharper petals. I think you need a star considering all the obstacles in taking this!
We are expecting a blizzard tomorrow - not just snowdrops - snowbucketloads. Love this shot - never seen snowdrops this close. Monty's a marvelous helper, I am sure. So the shoulder is much better I assume? You must have gotten up from this position to get back to your computer.
Well I was just about to have words with you about this appalling photograph but you've apologised so that's alright then. (What's not to like about a ground's eye view of pretty snowdrops ... )
I love this soft, sweet promise of Spring shot. Gorgeous! I can relate to your neighbors feeling of delight that something actually occurred 'before their time'. :)
great reward for your efforts .
I spotted the first camellia today.
