Not sure about this but it's red and we need colour. I discovered when researching another postbox for 365 that they get moved around. It's a shame because I'd like to imagine letters to WWI soldiers being posted in this box in the wall of The Castle Pub - the sender perhaps drinking to the health of their loved ones at the same time.
Three good things:
1. The cat has had her teeth out and they've removed yet another blade of grass from her throat (pretty revoltingly infected) - so she is happier if not my bank balance...
2. The cat is still slightly drugged so she shouldn't be waking me up every 10 min from 5 am tomorrow (OK so I'm struggling for good things - a bit tired!)
3. Rachel home tomorrow - nearly - most likely early Friday morning.
Oh... 4. I've thought of a book photo....
I love this shot of that iconic postbox! Seems like an extra bit of trouble to move them around. But this one looks as though it could have been used by a WWI soldier wherever it might have been placed originally.
Poor Rafiki, still eating the grass, eh? Guess I should say, poor Judith's wallet. :( I know you are looking forward to a weekend with Rachel!
Lovely texture, color, pov. I wish more of the mailbox was in focus but you still had the background blur. That's a total drag re Rafiki. How to stop her from those dangerous grasses?
Very nice red and peeling paint. They keep removing post offices too. I went to 2 yesterday which had been closed down. Trying to return my ebay lense which was no good :-(
I like your shot. And I didn't know that about postboxes. English postboxes are so conveniently obvious in their colouring - compared with foreign ones when you need to send a postcard.
I do love a nice postbox. It doesn't look like this one has been looked after, but it makes for a nice, interesting shot. Lovely to see a bit of colour :)
I love shots like this with old, rustic and texture, I have the same question as @fannyb , how and why do they move them??
Poor cat, like us and chocolate, we like what we should not eat.
oh poor cat never thought of them getting grass stuck .. i suppose thats why they eat it to make them sick which bubs likes to do normally just as im eating ..nice lovely shot tho sounds like your having a bit of bad luck
@fannyb@cookie123 Well the spiky one used to be used as an accessory for getting back into a college after the curfew (hence the spikes) - they must have decided it wasn't getting enough postage use I suppose. There used to be an iconic one in a lovely spot but it was regularly painted by students (wittily) and the miseries in the PO just picked it up and took it away one day. I have no evidence that this has been moved but having previously thought that once placed that was that it turns out they do get relocated.
Judith , i like the nice flakey red paint together with the gr8 textures...i think i need to do a pillar box / postbox as I've not done one yet on my 365...we have a wall one like this near st. marys church
Very timely because I am just reading Anthony Trollope (The Eustace Diamonds) and as I am sure everyone knows worked for the post office! He is my favourite author! Nice shot of an ancient icon!
