Well this wasn't exactly the shot I had lined up for today. Rachel and I walked Monty around Cambridge and I took a couple of seasonal shots - and tripped over the dog a few times thinking about others resulting in much tutting from Rachel. Then I thought I'd follow up last year's 'eggs + flowering currant' with 'eggs + damson blossom' - the flowering currant having wisely decided to postpone flowering for a bit longer. But Rafiki was delighted to have not only plant material in the house but plant material with dangling toys so I ended up with cat ears in shot. She did pose nicely for me later though. And before anybody says she's cute remember how much she's cost me in grass-eating escapades this year!
Three good things:
1. Enormous leg of lamb - fed ravenous revising boy (who I think may already be going slightly insane) and plenty for tomorrow too.
2. The Apple TV thing is possibly the most annoying piece of kit we've ever bought but we seem to be making progress.
3. A goldfinch in the garden - not eating the goldfinch food I've been providing for years but drinking in the pond - a start at least.
Hope everybody is having a lovely Easter - even if our UK one is the coldest one since the Ice Age...
What a beautiful cat. Lovely expression and wonderful focus. I have to say I am absolutely freezing and not even the heating nor the woodburner are warming me up sufficiently tonight. Hot bath now me thinks!
Oh Judith I misread this completely & thought you had written Goldfish drinking out of the pond, great visions!!!
Rafiki looks very young & spry sitting so upright & alert...worth every penny you spent I think & she thinks!
Didn't think til after but I should have bought a turkey instead of beef, we haven't had one since Christmas 2011!!
@happypat I was tempted to go with turkey ths year - some nice dressed ones that looked easy - but the massive leg of lamb was delish - I'm not sure they normally have them in that size and it was really lean. I'm a bit hit and miss with beef - I just haven't worked out a foolproof method.
Totally understand about what I assume is niger seed bought specially for goldfinches - we bought a huge bag of it from the RSPB together with a special feeder....goldfinches turned up their beaks at it and now happily fight the greenfinches for the sunflower hearts! p.s. fantastic shot of expensive cat!
Rafiki looks so regal and entitled to the exceptional medical care she has received. :)
I'm hoping that Spring decides to put in an appearance soon in the UK. Still cooler than normal here too, but doing a gradual warm up...at least until mid-week when it turns noticeably colder again. Happy Easter, Judith!
She is pretty darn cute! Still pretty cold and dreary here as well, Judith, although the thaw is beginning. Perhaps it will be one of those years where we go from winter to summer, passing up Spring completely.
Oh of course she is cute. Priceless. Haha. Are your goldfinches gold yet? We haven't had any at the feeder all winter, can't wait as they will start to yellow up as soon as they get here. Sometimes they winter over but are drab olive until April.
So sorry, Judith, but I must say that "she's cute!" Cats just have a mind of their own and nothing one can do about it, I guess. Loved your comment ...leftover lamb sounds wonderful AND we also had the coldest Easter ever!!

Very intense phase of life.
