Playing straight after the pitches are watered gives a bit of added interest for photos! A big win was needed on Sunday against Surbiton in order to progress through to the 3rd/4th play off but the boys (and parents) all looked pretty tired over breakfast. So we were pretty amazed when they set off at a storming pace with their normal skillful game falling into place. Reward came with a goal after about a minute and thence proceeded a really exciting back and forth game between two very well balanced teams. Some drama unfolded which left us a man down towards the end and Surbiton knocked in a short-corner in the last minute which meant we lost 3-2. It's a real shame that we left with three defeats on paper because with a tiny bit of luck it could have been 2 wins and we were right in there with a chance. But that's life and they should be proud - it's only the second year the club has run an U16 team and there are some great players working through the ranks so it is invaluable experience for future efforts.
Three good things:
1. Volunteers who run clubs
2. Volunteers who coach
3. Sport
There is such a fine line between winners & losers isn't there & sometimes the result doesn't reflect the game. You have had a very busy weekend Judith ! All good though & very bonding with other parents & the club!
Great spray of moisture flaring up..looks like you were near & bent very low....are you the official photographer?
@happypat Only in as much as I try to photograph the whole team and send the photos round. And I took the team photo for the programme where it was printed very small! This was a long way away and a pretty poor quality shot - PicMonkey is a wonderful thing....
