A bit of a full on day today - work doesn't half interfere with my schedule. It was well and truly after lunch by the time Monty and I got out but I treated him to an off-lead romp in Hardwick. I haven't been for a couple of months and it could be a different place - the rape seed oil fields are ripening and the wheat is turning to gold. It's a fine example of what can be achieved by leaving some rough land untended at the edges of the fields. Absolutely bursting with wild flowers of all different types and teeming with butterflies so I set myself the challenge of taking some butterflies in flight. And I succeeded - I have loads of shots of white blurs. So tempting to zoom in on this but I decided that the background is important too.
Thee good things:
1. I've found some colours for the bathroom - hurrah!! We have an eclectic collection of tiles in there which seemed like a good idea at the time but they really create a decorating headache. Just need to find a really effective way of cleaning grout now and also find out how to remove the sealant so I can replace it with nice pristine stuff.
2. Natural diversity.
3. Nobody in till later so I can get the cleaning finished before dinner is required.
The background is indeed important & a major part of the 'feel' of this photo....you have captured the atmosphere of a country walk through fields on a hot sunny day...something we had almost forgotten!
Grout is a mixed blessing, essential but goes black so quickly!
I have been messing with our shower as the couple next door are using our downstairs one while theirs is out of commission...you look with new eyes & see all the grotty bits specially when the sun shines on it!
Just super. i agree, lovely to see this cabbage white in context to the season and world around. I am alway s tempted to get as close as possible and bokeh the background. This works beautifully. FAV it is
@judithg I have a steam cleaner for the floor but never tried one of those sort of gun ones that clean tiles ..would be interesting to know if they worked!! We have the plumber around so he is going to reseal our shower tomorrow so will be as new hopefully!!!
Gorgeous with the summery background. If you solve the skanky sealant issue let me know how. I'm ashamed to be passing this boat on with the ring of degenerating grime that passes for a seal on our bath
it's a good one judith. Were you tempted to crop out the trees and sky? Cropping really emphasises the beauty of the thistle yet still retains the lovely golden field :)

I used the pointy bit of a potato peeler to remove sealant around my bath!
