I attempted to catch up with my friend and her little cherubs this morning but they were already ensconced in a dog-free park when they got my text. As swings and slides were no longer a requirement I took myself off down to the river at Milton instead of going to the country park. You can chose to go towards Cambridge from there or out towards Waterbeach and I chose the latter for a change of scene. I also managed to please Monty who has to be dragged down the towpath from Cambridge because, I think, he knows it's an on-lead walk (due to the presence of livestock that he can't be trusted with) whereas in the Waterbeach direction it's all wheat fields and he trotted along very happily off lead. There are some very pretty boats down there and also an amazing house that backs onto the river. I'm sure somebody will tell me what these pink flowers are - I took a pile of butterfly shots but once again they're all spot off.
Three GT:
1. Revisiting a forgotten walk
2. A lovely sunny morning (rain on its way)
3. A-level and AS-level results out tomorrow - at least the suspense will be over and good luck if your family members are on tenterhooks.
Salvia maybe? Look very pretty in the sun. Is it AS levels you're waiting for? I expect we will be waiting to see if we get any decent student despite dropping out of the world top 100 this morning.
@fueast Oh did you? Oh dear - most people still won't head to Malaysia or wherever I don't expect. GCSE's this year Adam has convinced himself (and me!) that they were a disaster - very stressful - didn't have this trouble with his sister.
They look like salvia to me too. So funny about Monty knowing he is going to have to stay on the lead. It has only just dawned on me in the past coupe of days that the GCSE results are out next week. Not sure it has even crossed Angus' mind! Not sure if I have mentioned it before but I read a very interesting article that a friend lent me recently - 'is your child a warrior or a worrier?' Think I know which mine is!
What a gorgeous sunny composition. No clue about the flowers - I'd have thought they were lavender at first ;). Can't wait to hear the results but from what I know of Adam and Rachel there shouldn't be any bad surprises.
The pink and blue, ooooooohhhh gorgeous. They go together like peaches and cream or in my case tonight ikea meatballs and loganberry sauce. Like Jo I like the focus on the flowers with a hint of the background. Lovely image.
Very nicely out of focus background, and I'd be interested to know what the flowers are called. I've looked in my book and yes I think Lesley may be right.
Thought it might be willow herb at first but the flower heads are too narrow...very pretty with the barg behind. Shows a beautiful summer walk with the sun on your back. Good luck to Adam for tomorrow, Lydia & Jack waiting for results ...Cathy won't be able to sleep tonight !!!
Lovely shot with beautiful light and marvelous focus. I tend to call any spikey pinkish/purple flower 'lavender', even though I know lavender...having it throughout my garden...and I realize this isn't lavender...but it's beautiful and very lavender-like.. :)

keep thinking calm thoughts .
I just cant believe it will be as bad as he says . But that's what they do to you!
In my experience one can be a worrier AND a warrior...
