Waiting

I spotted this lady waiting in the doorway of Corpus Christi College and was struck by the fact that the people either side of her have been waiting a lot longer. Founded in 1352 by the Guilds of Corpus Christi and the Blessed Virgin Mary, Corpus bears the distinction of being the only Oxbridge College founded by the townspeople. Well you learn something new every day doing this. It is a tiny college with only 260 undergraduates and I must make the effort to go inside sometime as this is the 19th Century New Court designed by William Wilkins who designed the National Gallery and behind it is Old Court which is medieval and I don't think I've ever been in it.
Three GT:
1. I have organised tickets for The Lowry Exhibition for my sister and myself in October - this involves 2 good things - the Lowry and my sister.
2. We have splashed out on a piece of art - every so often we spend more than intended on art - I'd like to think they will be heirlooms but mostly the kids are unimpressed - though Adam likes this one. It may be an age thing - my mum and dad had a big modern piece that I never 'got' but I'd quite like it now - no idea what they did with it though.
Love that this woman gives a great perspective of how large the building is. And I love this in black & white!

I think you grow into art...I must say I am very fond of a good painting!
I will look with new light on that exclusive brethren from Corpus Christie when I see them on University Challenge ...a small but special bunch !
The woman looks dwarfed by the door... I would feel silly sitting there, perhaps she is homeless!
A beautiful & classic building spoilt I think by the rather modern looking clock, or am I speaking of some ancient antique?

@happypat It looks better in colour - it's a nice maroon colour but they didn't go to town with it. Not homeless I don't think - she'd have had to pay to go in!

That lady does look a little bit lost! Shame to realize that you would have liked something now but have no idea where to find it - guess that happens quite often between generations.

She looks like one of those weather ladies who comes out when there is going to be sun and the man comes out when it is to rain! Fab shot, wonderful perspective.

Super shot - love the symmetry of the building and the lady being off center. Either their clock is wrong or your camera clock needs to be reset.

Amazing to think of the age of this building! It's fairly incongruous with the sitting lady!

i like the monochrome conversion judith......you've not told us what bit of 'art' you splashed out on !

I like the b/w, shows all the detail of the building.

So cool - they look like they're watching her.
Love the verticals in this too. Grand old building.

This looks great in B&W, and the woman sitting outside is a great added touch.
