The Thinker

Using a filler today because the rain when we walked the dog this morning was most definitely camera threatening. Nigel's dad came down from the Midlands through horrendous weather to join us for Adam's belated birthday lunch and Rachel was still here so it was a fun fivesome at Cau for (in my case) an absolutely delicious Latino Burger. Terrible photos taken in the restaurant, because I'd left the 50mm lens on my camera and had to get miles away to take the shots, are useless for the family theme. So I only had the walk back to the car park to get some street shots despite being inspired to take more of that genre by Martin Bond's 'A Cambridge Diary' blog. He says that he uses a Fujifilm X100S which is lovely and retro and although very expensive given that it only has a fixed 23mm lens, takes cracking photos. However he has to get really close to his 'victims' - he says you have to be 'bold and smile' and even with my 50mm lens I felt totally paralysed when it came to it. Maybe I will stick with the zoom.
Three GT:
1. Lunchtime cocktail
2. Respite from the rain to get Rachel and Peter back home
3. Adam's double exposure things which are much better than mine - I may have to 'borrow' one.
This Thinker found a lovely spot to do her contemplating/reading/studying. Sounds like you had a delightful weekend with family...even though it wasn't photo documented. :)

Love it, especially the wall and colours of the climber

Adam is taking after his mum then in the camera world...all those mornings taking photos on the way to school has worked...indoctrination by stealth!
I love this girl on the wall , everything about it down to the drink beside her...fave.

My first thought was I hope she does not fall off the wall. How nice to have a weekend all together, a shame about the weather

@happypat Thanks Pat - funnily enough I've dropped Adam a couple of times recently and it's been very tempting to stop as it's gorgeous then - but we haven't been very prompt setting off!

Not a very bright one though! Two perfectly good seats and they sit on a dangerously high wall. Darwinism in progress :D

Cool composition , hope she won't fall asleep .... It looks high !

I love the splash of red leaves on the wall - and the meditating girl. Great composition.

It is a beautiful shot, but I feel very nervous with her sitting on a wall so high up.

She looks completely in her own world .... lovely shot :)

lovely shot judith, i don't get why a student will sit on a wall edge, with a big drop when there is a nice wooden bench and form behind them....maybe they do it because they 'can' ....I think you would go barmy if you saw Adam doing similar !

Such a lovely shot, Judith, and I like your title.

Lovely candid shot!!

Brave girl! I'd be getting the eebie jeebies about sitting there. I need to consider the next lens I'd buy but I'm completely clueless tbh. I may have to do a little research now I have the time xx

Lovely shot, sadly it will be a while before we can enjoy weather like that again, happy days.

I get vertigo just looking at this!!! I love how she is so captivated by what she is reading and seemingly oblivious to the grandeur around her.

Great shot, so typical of Cambridge. I had to use a filler too, today. Working in Derby, where it is absolutely p*****g down!

You can't help thinking that the quality of your thoughts must be so much better in surroundings like this!

Gorgeous colors against the mono feel building

She seems to be soaking up all the intelligent atmosphere of centuries featured in the buildings behind her.

The thinker seems lost in the larger scheme of things! Nice shot!

Lunchtime cocktail? Excellent.

My middle-age-onset vertigo is getting worse by the day. I honestly got a little shudder of quease just looking at her sitting next to the drop. Ugh!
