There was some sort of Morris dance festival on in Cambridge today. Reminded me of @boxplayer so a pleasant addition to the day's activity. I walked down in to town with Nigel and the dog and then they peeled off while I embarked on serious dress research. I have ventured in to a number of shops for the first time ever. Some for the last time I expect. I was admiring £650 Vivienne Westwood frocks ('Always great for a wedding' - I was tempted to mention the royal one where she didn't fare so well) in an academic sort of a way (you can get some serious lenses for that money) when the nice shop owner asked me what designers I normally buy. I didn't think the answer she was looking for was White Stuff so I made my excuses and left. After several hours I recharged with a coffee and a toastie, sallied forth in to the fray and have bought two dresses. Nigel is charged with choosing one or other or neither. I'm not sure he has the strength for 'neither' so I expect I have actually bought a dress. So then there will be accessories....
Three GT:
1. Photo ops thrown at me on a busy day.
2. Day one of Couch to 5K completed - pounds to lose!
3. Eaves-dropping on the neighbouring changing room. "I'll buy some Spanx". "Exercise is what you need. How did you get so big when you used to be so slim? You need to lose weight before the wedding." And they were friends - it wasn't even her mother! I think I got off lightly!
Made me smile that is the commentary. poor hubby to be asked the life shortening question "Does my bum look big in this?"- any answer is the wrong one. Oh dear poor chap.
Oh my that number three GT is hilarious .......you call that a friend....she must be a very good friend to be able to say that...a seriously disheartening moment. Vivian Westwood was on Breakfast a couple of weeks ago ...she was fascinating & I so admired her....rather weird but a great character. Of course she comes from the north so that explains it !
Excellent Morris dancing photo!
@happypat Yes - shame there wasn't a big sale on Vivienne Westwood - 80% off I'd have had one!! She's an amazing woman. How did we manage with iPad - that Steve Jobs knew a thing or two.
A lovely colourful photograph,, Beth our granddaughter has been staying with us to do her revision , each day she ran 5k cross country in just less tan half an hour
Great morris people here - good for them - I think they are in fairyland - tinkerbelle and all that! I hope after all that effort that someone is actually going to notice what you are wearing at the wedding! I never remember what othe people wore!
I attempted to dress L as a last minute morris dancer the other day (for "International Day" at the nursery. "Come in traditional dress" they said...) and sewed red ribbons into a cross on a white outfit and then tried to get her to wear bells but she refused. So she spent all International Day looking like we'd sent her in as dressed as the BNP. Mildly unfortunate.
I remember trying to explain Morris Dancers to my Swedish penpal. It didn't go well. ;)
Excellent Morris dancing photo!
