The Tour de France has a stage in Cambridge on 7th July. Hundreds of thousands of people are expected and this is one of the widest parts of the roads on the route. After they've put up barriers there will be room for about 25 spectators... While I'm grumbling the council has installed new cycle racks which don't have any more spaces but somehow take up a lot more room and make the bikes look ugly.
Still 3 GT:
1. The city's decor is homemade, a bit kitsch and I like it.
2. There is a lot of art work around on a cycle theme.
3. Monty's tummy seems to have settled down after I was up twice in the night with him.
Luckily I took these on my iPhone this morning so wasn't too upset by the 'no card in camera' message this afternoon!
Fabulous Judith...takes you ages to see everything in this one. Tour de France how exciting...hope you will be on the front row.
iPhones are brilliant.......so handy yet take photos like this!! Beautiful part of Cambridge...no wonder you stayed! Pleased about Monty!
How exciting to have the Tour come to you - the bicycle capital :)! I once saw the final part in Paris (2003) and it was really cool to be there :)! The guy doesn't seem too impressed by it all though ;).
It all looks quite festive! We were going to come over to Cambridge today but in the end decided against it - too many strawberries and rasps to deal with!
Have been waiting for Cambridge to get round to decorating the streets in readiness - having seen what's been happening in Sheffield and York in other shots on 365. Good shot of Trinity Street.
It was like that in York earlier in the week when we were there ...... loads of yellow bikes too :)
