Dog ahoy

It's on the prow if you're struggling to see it! All along this stretch of the river dogs were jumping on board to defend their territories from non-swimming Monty. I got my camera all set up to go out and then left it on the table so I had to revert to iPhone (good for the neck at least) which makes me go for more landscape type shots that I don't normally take.
With nobody at home for the second weekend in quick succession I was beginning to tend towards loneliness (though generally speaking I don't mind a bit of solitude) so I have been lucky to have nice friends who have come round for drinks, or met up with me or suggested trips to the cinema. Last night I went to see 'Boyhood' which is an amazing film though not exactly ideal as it ends with the kids both flying the nest and it wasn't quite what I needed from that point of view. But in other ways it is a really extraordinary piece of work as it was filmed over 12 years as the actors grew up/grew older. I'm sure 365 and similar on-line forums but be fantastic for people suffering from loneliness - a group of virtual friends who often become real.
Three GT:
1. V large G&T last night at the Arts Cinema - we decided it's what was needed as temperatures were high.
2. Rain on the cycle ride home - lovely cooler temps overnight.
3. A nice chat with Adam who confessed quite independently to having been on the verge of loneliness in NY though he's desperate to go back again and think he's learned quite a lot about also needing companions.
I'm off out later but will hopefully comment later on. I should have been better over the weekend but it was too hot indoors and my iPad struggles in bright light.
Monty doesn't put me in mind of an old sea dog........he has more sense.....keep your feet out of the water Monty!
Loneliness is a horrid thing & something many people are ashamed to admit to........I like to be on my own but not for days at a time!

A lovely riverside scene! I understand being on one's own. Due to my husband's job, he is often away for months at a time .... this year since Feb! 365 keeps me busy. Summer holidays now though, so company of one of my boys at least!

Such an idyllic scene and lovely reflection. Looks like a perfect retreat if you were looking for a bit of solitude.

This looks more my idea of boating - tied up at an idyllic bank with a church in the background meaning there is a village there! Dog too. In my dreams! Super clear shot with your iPhone - they are used a lot more on 365 now!

Fabulous reflections - lovely scene. Yes I like a day to myself now and again, but wouldn't like it all the time.

@helly31 yes my solitary week is feeble in comparison with that - and you're in a different country as well. My friend was married to a submariner when we were all younger and the US Navy used to give the wives lessons - they had to be completely independent but then pretend to be a bit useless when the husbands got home (save a few jobs up). She really struggled with the pretending to be useless part! My husband goes away fir weeks at a time quite often and I don't much notice (!) but that's because there's always some teenager at home making a big cluttered mess etc - going to be odd when they are all gone too.

I'm quite curmudgeonly about getting time to myself, but find there's a fine line between nice peaceful solitude and suddenly feeling rather bereft.
