So day one proper of the holiday in Northumberland and we headed over to Craster for the walk to Embleton Beach via Dunstanburgh castle. It was a cloudy start which was altogether more bearable for the dog than last year when we did the walk in blazing sunshine. This time we found the golf club which is just behind the fabulous beach and partook of some decadent delicious cakes (toffee apple pudding muffin must be one of our five a day?) The sun came out it time for a bit of lounging about on the beach which as usual was hardly occupied and we walked back along the inland route which has spectacular views of the castle across fields of swaying barley. All in all a lovely day - here is a sheep of the slope up to the ruins.
