This drawing major at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) was at the Roger Williams National Memorial this afternoon along with a dozen or so of his classmates. From where he's seated, the Memorial is essentially a grass park the stretches about two city blocks. It's relatively empty, save for a cluster of bushes about a hundred yards in front of him. That was the artistic challenge he and his classmates were addressing today. Of course, there's something to be said for any classroom assignment that has you sitting in the shade on the grass in city park on comfortable summer day with a slight breeze. There are definitely worse assignments to be had!
Post processing started with a brilliant warm filter in Topaz Adjust. I then adjusted adaptive exposure, contrast, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE. I did try this in b&w, however in this case the color version told a far better story than the monochrome.
