Golden Bosun Bird in flight by lbmcshutter

Golden Bosun Bird in flight

Called in to work at midnight last night, home about 6am and no sleep yet, each time I try the phone rings from work, we have been trying to get our job done without access to our office, files, computers. Tensions out there and we're in the news again as a result.
Sat on my balcony early this morning taking bird photos and then more when we had a work team meeting over lunch at a cafe in the settlement - whilst waiting for lunch I wandered across the road and took more bosun shots.
I really wish I had a 500mm (or bigger) lens on days like this
glorious!!! Christmas Is has been in the news all day!

WOW! Look at that! Awesome picture and what a bird! I don't know what work you do, but I do know from my old life, that the media love bad news stories and that you can do a million things right and no one will notice... but make 1 mistake ...
I think birds are good stress relievers .... keep snapping these ones - their great!!

@jenrobcarr yep I was there. I adore these birds and could have spent a few more hours shooting them

@notliz LOL - don't you hate it when that happens! and thanks for the kind words - thankfully the news isn't reflective of anything I have done

@notliz dont I know that this week with the baby swapping scandal that made international news! Lucky my old hospital not the one I work in now

@jenrobcarr I thought of you when I saw that!! Poor things. I still get annoyed when I see bad press stories for ambos ... Not denying things go wrong, but they never report the other side either. No wonder we have such an appalling attrition rate.

@jenrobcarr @notliz I always remind myself that the media never let the truth get in the way of a good story - and for everything that is reported, there is a great deal of infromation which has been intentionally omitted

@palusami I never had given a lot of thought to photos of birds on the wing prior to seeing these lovely birds ....

I did think of you when I saw the news.

These birds are magnificent, it's lucky you have such a beautiful environment to take your attention now and then.

Big lens or not this is wonderful. What an amazing silhouette he has with that long tail. Sorry for the late nights and what sounds like a tense work environment right now.

Great shot, Meegs. Imagine how much better it would have been with a big, phat 500mm prime stuck on the front of your Canoblaster. You should totally get one of those. (I hope this encouragement makes up for yesterday's lack of enthusiasm for the big prime) :D
