- boardwalk near bird hides Swan Lake Phillip Island
The bored looking one in the middle was the female, the other two males fighting over her, their method of courtship, biting her.
The one about to grab her leg had been making his moves and had his mouth holding a large chunk of her neck until the guy in back decided he'd join in. Eventually the two males were fighting each other (or indulging in greco-roman wrestling) and the female wandered off leaving them to it.
Hahaha, I'm not so sure human courtship is all that different! Good for her leaving the boys to their shenanigans, and great job capturing such an interesting moment. At first I couldn't tell how many lizards there were--- it almost reminds me of an M.C. Escher drawing.
Great photo Megan, I too was a little confused as to how many lizards were involved. Love the inclusion of the tree with DOF in the right hand fringe of the photo. @lotus1922 I was going to say the same thing.
