The Blue Lake - Mt Gambier, South Australia - lake in extinct volcano caldera
I know it is named the Blue Lake, but being an overcast late afternoon I expected the colour would be dull too, and I was blown away by the intensity of the blue, the photo does not do it justice. Apparently the colour is at its best around March
Gosh - you stayed the night in an extinct volcano?! Better not tell the kids they'll want to go...! Lovely shot, I bet the blue would be even bluer in the sunshine - found the same with lakes in Welsh mountains
Fabulous shot of the lake! It's truly amazing, isn't it? I remember walking around it very pregnant wondering if I might go into labour! This photo brings back some nice memories for me. Ta!
@buggirl glad to bring some (more) happy memories for you. I'm really missing CI, but visiting places I have never been or not been to since I was a small child is distracting me
@jenrobcarr will do! Yesterday morning as I drove through Geelong I contemplated detouring through OG but in the end (as the turn off approached rapidly) I decided to press on towards SA border.
I am still undecided on my homewards route but intend to visit Werribee zoo and a few other places over that side of the Bay
