Phil (@filsie65) suggested these shots may look good in sepia, so here is one more Bayon shot converted to sepia using iPhoto.
I have about a thousand shots from Angkor - a dozen sets of negatives and several memory cards filled with my very first digital camera a neat canon p&s from a scant 4 day visit, so everyday it is tough to elect which shot to share, I love so many of them but don't want to bore you all.
I was going to share a shot of the stairs up the side of one of the temples, the steps were very step and the tread very narrow, a young kid was clambering up alongside me and about 4 metres up he froze unable to go any further or descend. His dad ended up climbing up and carrying him down. His fear was infectious and I also force about this point, mostly because I suddenly realised that although the view from the top would be wonderful, I would have to descend again. At that frozen fear moment I didn't want to face that. Then I decided I may never get back again and I would regret not going to the top so I kept climbing I descended around the side of that one, not sure that it was any less steep, but psychologically it was a different set of stairs. It is undoubtedly a bad thing that thousands of tourists clamber across these ancient temples, but I'm glad I was there when it was still permitted. I'm sure eventually it will be more restricted/banned.
WOW Megan! That's wonderful - I'm really touched - thank you so much I never imagined you'd put up a sepia one for me! Do you like it in sepia? Still love the B&W ones too :)
Fav of course - but also because I think it is wonderful and think your adventures are wonderful too! I wouldn't like that steep climb either...I feel like that with narrow spiral staircases, after the trauma of going up you have to face the trauma of going down!! Worth it though, I bet!
