on this day ..... 12 months ago I was on the Eyre peninsula South Australia, on a wonderful road trip

I really wanted a cool cattle egret sitting on cattle shot, but never saw them, so I had to settle for starlings on sheep ........

I have not taken (m)any photos lately so have decided to look back through my photos and have an "on this day" theme, this was on this day 12 months ago.

Agree with @filsie65 I've never seen a starling on a sheep, either! Love this shot, particularly with that one coming in from the left, eager to join the mob. Fav. for me, because it's unusual and that grass is such a great background. If you want cattle egret on cattle, come along here; they're everywhere. But as soon as I get out of the car they fly off. You need a bigger zoom than I've got.

@girlie thanks so much for the fave, this shot always amused me. My best method for getting shots of birds without scaring them off is through my car window, I shoot a LOT from inside my car, through the car window

@lbmcshutter Yes, from the car window is good for me, too. But the egrets around here don't even like a car stopping nearby. They're VERY nervous.

I too have longed for a cattle egret shot on cattle. Nearly one time at Wolfram.
