On this day ..... 12 months ago ..... I was on my road trip .... I drove from The Coorong SA through to Horsham Vic ...... White-necked Heron
It was difficult to pick a shot for today, I took so many shots on the road trip a year ago today, I stopped off at a wonderful bird location a conservation park, I saw pink lakes, I saw large flotilla of pelicans swimming in formation and a mass of pelicans flying overhead. But the heron had been a shot i had been wanting, but I had really wanted him in his breeding plumage, missed out on that. I spotted this guy when having a rest break in a town called Natimuk on the Wimmera Hwy on the way to Horsham Victoria. Natimuk is the closest town to Mount Arapiles, a favourite of rock climbers. I had visions of getting a spectacular shot of a rock climber on a rock face, but there were no climbers on the mountain while I was there, they were all in the camp celebrating their climbs.
I have applied for a few deployments with work to some very different locations, keep your fingers crossed for me, any of them will provide me with so many photo opportunities to share with you, two are very tropical and one is a lot cooler (snow in winter - we do have a few areas in Australia that see snow every winter) but so very photogenic. Fingers crossed, I'd be thrilled to get any of them. All would be 3-6 months away. I'd find someone to house sit my house here for me again.
Well caught
