I flew from Canberra to Melbourne to join my flight from Australia to London (via Singapore) - 24 hours of flying. Just as the plane was supposed to touch down in Melbourne we rapidly climbed back up, it took 5+ mins for the pilot to be in the position to let us know what was going on, strong wind shear on landing and the instruction is to climb again when that happens.
I was already feeling some trepidation about my journey, it seemed quite mad to be flying half way around the world to see a man I hadn't seen in 25 years. I worried that our email and phone conversations and the feelings those evoked wouldn't translate in real life. I worried that he would have second thoughts and stand me up. so many other worries going on, but trying so hard to seem calm and to be excited about my adventure.
As the flight out of Melbourne took off I got into conversation with my neighbour and the lovely cabin crew member in the jump seat opposite my exit row seat. They were both touched and excited by the romantic notion of the reunion of long lost loves. Suddenly, my life resembled a chick flick.
I can imagine... you must have been a bundle of nerves! When I arrived at Geneva coach station after a 26 hour journey from England my chap wasn't there.... horrors! He arrived within about 2 minutes but I had aged quite a lot by then.
This is a beautiful little duck, and very glam. Great for the day
@bobfoto the place where I saw this guy and the flamingos is a wetlands centre and they had waterfowl from all around the world - in another section we bumped into a bunch of Cape Barren Geese.
